will i find success in -... 54?

Im applying for school and its been in the plans for over six months after switching from design studies to social services so I could get into a university later for psychology.
My career advisor told me this is the only way because I dont have my high school diploma.
So I figure if Social.work.is something I like then i can go further with that if not then I got my back up.
54 kind of scared me ill admit, i read an interpretation of it and someone said "that ones heart is not in it" :S

I think 54 is about feeling lost, and finding one's place. It may be reflecting your own doubts. As you had no changing lines:

One has to look at the big picture, viewing things "in the light of eternity", as Wilhelm says of 54. If psychology is the route you would like to follow, make sure of it. You can always adapt your studies to something else. All in all, you have to find your role and your true place, and this is what H54 seems to be about: Adaptation with the larger picture in sight.

54 poses some questions of making satisfactory enough choices and if we are, how to act under those circumstances where we are not creating but rather following something already established.
Not sure if you wanted to know how successful you will be in social work or in psychology profession?
I would say, if you are entering some kind of an internship, the role of a Marrying Maiden could fit in the profile.

And I do have doubts, like how will I know that is the path I should follow.
I havent started my program yet period I start a practicum near the end.
Haha why does it look .bad at first glance -54?
I think I could actually do pretty good with this, but like I said just minor doubts about if this is the right choice 100%..but then again I can always change it after this year.

I think you should stay on course, making adaptions as needed. I think you are determined, and all should work out. You are like a marrying maiden in terms of starting a new course of study, social work leading to psychology in general. I posted on your other new thread.

Then it looks as if you have nothing to loose, just exploring on your wishes and ideas? There is nothing wrong with that, it is great you have the possibility...in overall, I think 54 talks about someone who is determined to do the best in given circumstances and fits in you having the second choice of studies... and mostly looks like people get 54 when it has to do with their own desires, wanting somebody or something too much so I would say definitely acting like a guest in someone`s house rather then charging at it..social work, I believe asks for composure and patience, so it may be that you are being advised to follow the idea of 54 in order to succeed in your second choice pursuit.

Yes, it is an adaptation, but not necessarily because it is your own second choice, but because you are somehow at a disadvantage, even if it is your own first choice.

This was always my understanding. And yes, one is like a guest, or someone who has to make do with an inferior position. Or one compromised in some manner.

Hence, adaptation. As Wilhelm says, "the superior man considers the transitory in the light of eternity." This is how one views things when the transitory is less than compelling.

I still believe on a practical level, though, it always pays to make sure what one studies is what one actually wishes to, and not just the advice of another. Hence, my words to Megan.
