I have two really important exams on Wednesday that I have been preparing for and which keep giving me sleepless nights... I have a lot of things happening in my personal relationship at the moment and in full-time education at the same time. I have recently failed an exam which took away all my confidence and these ones on Wednesday are crucial. I have asked "How I can increase my chances of passing the exams on Wednesday" to which I got 14.1 to 50. (I guess I was also hoping for a little insight on my actual chances of passing when I asked that). 14.1 confused me... Has anyone got any experience with this? I checked the threads but they were more about relationships/break-ups etc. and I just couldn't see any connections.... Please help...

I'm translating 14.1 as

Disassociating from harm nullifies blame.
Hardship will lead to being without fault.

I take this as that you can increase your chances by studying diligently, seeking out your weak spots to give them extra attention.

Thank you very much Ewald. I will do all I can to study diligently until Wed morning!

I actually asked a more direct question: Will I pass my exams this Wednesday? to which I got a very, in my opinion, scary response: 62.1.6 changing to 30. Does this mean that I will fail???? God, Im in a big panic now... Please help!!!

Magdalena - 62.1.6 indeed sounds pretty negative. It actually sounds so downright negative that I wonder if it's not just a reflection of your fears of not passing the exams.

Panicking will not help you pass the exams, Magdalena. Try to return from the negative thoughts to what's real in the here and now. Breath deeply, from your stomach, to be calm. Then concentrate on what will help you to do pass the exams.

For better or for worse (instead of just getting on with the studying) I asked the Yi another question in a vain attempt to make me feel better after the last disastrous response. "If I carry on revising subject X in a manner that I have just started, will I pass my exams on Wednesday?" to which I got 34.1.2 chaning to 62. I think the Yi is being purposefully difficult to me tonight...

I think the IC is not predicting anything, Magdalena, the intelligence behind it only tries to help you by pointing out potential problems.

The bird in hex 62 that flies too high - what could that mean? A high flying bird has a bird eye's view, it has overview. So it understands the material in general but perhaps it doesn't know much about the details or the basics, the more elementary stuff.
Do you pay enough attention to that?

It strikes me that you have line 1 changing in all the answers that you got. That may point in the same direction, a potential problem with the basics and the details, the nitty gritty.
Do you recognize that?

Perhaps it would help if we had more information about the subject.
What is it? Math, physics, history, language?

Experience has taught me that the predictions, when it's making predictions, of the Yi can often be changed by the appropriate action (not always, but often).

So, study hard dear. There's other good advice above, too, I think...

Followup questions are also good practice, IMO. You might try something along the lines of "How can I help myself pass this exam" - however, the answer to that one's probably already pretty clear...

Martin, your comments are spot on, that's exactly where I think the problem lies. Im studying dentistry and the exams on wed are on dental materials and human disease. So far I've read everything once, looked back at the d. materials last night and realised I really don't remember any details and I need to know names, chemical reactions etc. so im in a big panic.

Its amazing how you spotted it.

Jeff, thanks for your comments as well, I did follow it up with another question "If I carry on revising subject X in a manner that I have just started, will I pass my exams on Wednesday?" to which I got 34.1.2 chaning to 62. What do you think about this one?

Hi Magdalena:

It sounds like you're scaring yourself.
If it was me, I'd stop asking I Ching questions. All this worry is taking time away from your studies.

I'm sure you know what you need to focus on.
You probably remember alot more than you realize.
When I feel panicked, my mind freezes - maybe that's what's going on.

Breathe...and good luck!

Try to calm down (34.1) (which sort of echoes what Peace wrote, no?) and keep at it (34.2) IMO. Also don't overdo it (34.1).

You'll find out soon enough... Power to ya!
