Dear community,
I have cast these readings for the following questions:
a) How to improve my career/work situation?
18.5.6 > 48
This is an apt description of my overall situation: I need to find my inner voice and inspiration (48), which have been lost due to over-involvement in service to others and to the abandonment of personal projects as a consequence. The idea is that I need to repair or carve out long-term decay/corruption (18). In my case, this involves completing unfinished projects that have great potential but didn't see the light of day or were left pending too long. My father figures are all the run-away type (hence an added meaning).
I interpreted lines 5 and 6 as saying "if I'm able to do as advised and implement reforms through self-improvement and letting go of the rotten past, I'll achieve the improvement I seek." The yang change pattern is 57 and the Yin is 46, If I got them right. Does this means that in the backdrop os the question of personal ascension/rising upward and carrying my own "seal"/unique brand? I'm a newbie to the change patterns...

I then asked a specific question:
b) How to make the most of the opportunity that I was given?
I got 35.1.2.4.5.6 > 60
Again, on point: I was given a period leave with pay so that I could go back to work on the "abandoned" projects mentioned above. It's a generous gift but so daunting that I have not felt up to the task and I also don't know if revisiting past, unfinished projects will help me advance and progress (35) or fall back into... "the past". Bc I tend to overthink things, I fell (again) into a procrastination and self-sabotage pattern of too many expectations, multiple connections, and little advancement (pretty much an hex 18 situation). Argh, I feel terrible about myself. Though, this past year has been terrible and, like many others, I lost income, had health problems, was evicted from my condo so that the landlord could renovate and resell. It hasn't been all-rosy.
The relating hexagram (60) puzzles me, yet the image of measures/limitation seems to contain an important msg since I got 5 changing lines! I looked at the change patterns - Yang 10 and Yin 2 - but I'm overwhelmed by all the detail.

Would anyone care to help me in these interpretations? I'm really grateful for your insights.

Ana Mari 🙏

Message to self (and others): no, I didn't get these change patterns right at all. I'm new to the forum.
An explanation from H on the patters of change can be found here.

See my corrections below.

The Yin pattern for this reading 18.5.6>48 was 34 instead and the Yang was 20. Issues of how much power/powering through and how much seeing/overseeing are the ones at play here in a context where I am trying to tap into a well of inspiration and creativity (48) to work on what has been spoiled, to repair neglect (18).

I looked at the change patterns - Yang 10 and Yin 2 - but I'm overwhelmed by all the detail.
The Yin pattern for this 2nd reading (35.1.2.4.5.6 > 60) was 15 and the Yang Pattern was 10. There are themes at play here that have to do with humility and a balancing act (15) while walking on the tight rope that is a tiger's tail (10). Those 5 changing lines and the related hex. 60 baffle me...

From the top of my head: progressing or at minimum trying to progress (35) through measured action and within limits/limited contexts (60). It might also mean "limited progress" with many volatile factors that can flip the game (?) bc of all the changing lines...

Hi Ana Maria,
18.5.6. says: Use praise (18.5). You are doing as well as you can and this is all right. Don't ask too much from yourself. Don't be overtly critical with yourself. 18.6 says even more: Don't let other people put you down. Better to be away of the daily struggles as far as you can and just follow your own inspiration. In the end, if things have been spoilt or mistakes have been made, this is the time just to go beyond this and change it.

With the second reading - 5 changing lines make you look at the 6th line which is NOT changing. In 35, it is interesting to look at 35.3, which is not changing, sidewise: Are you confident enough? The situation, as it is, seems to be fine, a good opportunity. There is recognition of your talents and abilities in this hexagram. The 60 as a related might hint at "taking measures". Maybe there is some "measurement" necessary, whatever this will mean for you.

All together, it is a bit difficult to guess as you don't give that much information. The Yin change pattern of 15 in the second reading might hint at the ability to carry things through: An inner attitude.

All the best,
Mandarine

Bless you Mandarine. You have no idea how grateful I am.
The relevant info here (for you or passerby readers) is that the above presents with an opportunity for me to write a novel and to accomplish a major piece of work of *my own*. I didn't have the conditions/resources or the headspace (bandwidth) to engage with it properly before, though I could've tried. The cart was just too heavily loaded with burdens from others that I took upon myself. I needed to for material reasons and then came the pandemic. That's where the source of personal guilt and wee bit of shame resides.
On the other hand, this is one those long-term creative projects that is slightly drawn out and implies revisiting some materials that I started working on in the past (hence it comes with its own limitations). But it's also a project that could lead to decent progress at work *if* I can see it through to the end. I suspect that the process (rather than accomplishment itself) will matter the most for my spiritual growth and rebuilding the morale that has been lost.
May the force be with me and with anyone who's going through similar hurdles.
