Hi all

I am worried about how my dear friend is doing (he's currently away working in what i can only imagine to be poor conditions in the middle east given that he's contracted as a labourer). These are the readings i got:

(1) How is my friend doing now - ok?
63.1.3.5 > 2
How do you interpret this since hex 63 doesn't seem relevant to my question. But i thought i read about exhaustion in line 3 in Alfred Huang's book : (

(2) When will he contact me again?
59.2.6 > 8
Wikiwing's interpretation of line 6 was a little scary.. something about blood dispersing .. so i asked another question as per Wikiwing's suggestion -

(3) What is the nature of the danger that threatens him?
10.1.4.6 > 29
Do you think he might be facing some bad stuff from his boss or his surroundings? 10 deals with a tiger ...

I really hope that everything goes well for my friend. I have heard bad stories about how labourers are treated in the middle east : (

I am not too good at this but, as for your third question, it seems like what creates the dangerous situation is in his surroundings or, at least, close to home - metaphorically or literally. And it seems like a situation that might take a while to sort out if not dealt with promptly and effectively. But there seems to be hope to get out of it before the damage is greater.

And as for your second question - the only thing that comes to mind is, when he feels the time is right and when he can breathe more freely.

And the first question; he has settled in but doesn't have much control over his situation.

"(1) How is my friend doing now - ok?
63.1.3.5 > 2"

He conquers the so-called Land of the Devils after three years -- but he experiences great fatigue. But because of the timeliness of his sacrifice, great good fortune is on its way to him.

"(2) When will he contact me again?
59.2.6 > 8"

Your friend is very fortunate. He knows how to keep himself safe. And top line moving means that Yi considers him strong enough to keep harm at a distance.

I know that other people have written other things about 59.6. However, this is the interpretation that has always been true for me.

Remember, it may not be your friend who is personally in any danger. With 59.6, he is probably coming to the aid of someone else.

"(3) What is the nature of the danger that threatens him?
10.1.4.6 > 29"

Regarding the nature of the danger (29), the answer is that it has to do mainly with the fact he has to deal with difficult or powerful people (10). My interpretation is that your friend has a good idea about who the tigers are in his particular situation, and he also understands how best to deal with them.

Beware of dramatic language in the I Ching that can set our minds going in the wrong direction!

I posted a reply but for some reason it showed up later. So I posted this in the meantime:

Your friend is not in personal danger to his life. He will contact you again when he takes care of something else -- when he has successfully dealt with some trouble.

The trouble is not his trouble. He is probably coming to the aid of someone else. Since you received 59.6, Yi considers your friend strong enough to deal with the dangers in his situation, and he will do so.

If your friend continues to watch his step, he will do very well, indeed.

Send your friend warm thoughts -- and have confidence that he'll stay safe and healthy. :)
