Yarrow stalk superstition?

Hi everyone, I have been using coin method for a number of years and feel it time to move onto Yarrow stalks. However, with more western forms of divination, such as Tarot, there are superstitious rules that one must not buy their deck for themselves. I was wondering if there was such a superstition about obtaining Yarrow stalks?

While I understand that we create our own reality, and many of these things only hold power if we feed them. I also feel quite strongly that it is important to treat certain things with spiritual reverence for the reason that in their use they become a bridge to receive guidance from the Divine Logos...which is the reason for all being...if that does not deserve reverence I dont know what does hahaha... but also practically speaking this can help enhance their power as a vessel for communicating the movements of the Tao...apologies for my inexperienced vocabulary with regard to my expression of understandings, I have never really had the chance to converse about this stuff with and learn from other people.

Anyways, if there are any kind of customs or superstitions that anyone has heard of in relation to obtaining yarrow stalks that they would like to share I would much appreciate it.

Sorry for the extra babble, I thought it would help some of you that are interested in helping me understand where I come from in relation to it.

Love Dune.

The main point, and maybe the only point, of a ritual here is to train yourself in respect for the divination process, which hopefully leads to taking more care with your question and paying better attention to the Yi's response. If it doesn't do that then it's useless.
Before I learned of the probability problems with the "modern" yarrow method, i used to use stalks. I harvested and lacquered them myself, kept them wrapped in a silk scarf above eye level, with my three favorite texts. This should probably be enough of a ritual.

Thank you ever so much for your response.

I am interested that you said that you used to use stalks. What do you use now?

You said "modern" yarrow method, as oppose to...? What are the differences?

If there is 10 to the dozen of threads and articles about my issue of inquirey then feel free to sign post me or leave a link to any of them rather than having to rehash the information and debates for yet another person asking the same questions *blushes*

Thanks again,
Love Dune.

References do abound here, but none comprehensive or succinct. My own books are free to download at the link below and I talk about in Volume One, pp 46-47 (56-57 0f the PDF). Since I wrote that I've become even more suspicious that the Yarrow method we now use dates only from the 12th century and is not the method of ancient times.

Many thanks bradford, thats facinating! Is there any other threads where this is discussed...or is it some sort of project of investigation/tin of worms that you do not feel moved to open up yet? I would love to know about the causes for your suspicions, and what you feel was the earliest and/or most authentic method?

I did try to download the pdf the other day to get a look, but my library computer had problems opening the zip file. I shall continue to try.
