Well said LiSe.

There are times when committing yourself to either a yes or a no makes it easier to say to oneself: "nah- this is not what I want, or yeah- I can do this", whichever way the coin falls.

And the winner is...
Dobro. I was notified today the training schedule has been delayed, but I'll be completing the 1-year certification program.

Maybe I've come a bit late to this discussion but.... reading over it reminded me of a dilemma I had when I was a kid and maybe it fits?

I was about 11 or 12 and at bording school - what they call a full time border in that I stayed even at weekends and only went home on the planned exeats every month or so. The school I was at was having a restructure in their policies - scrapping Saturday morning school, making the weekday longer and thinking about introducing the policy that everyone became a weekly border and so went home every weekend. Because of the distance between my school and home this would have introduced some impracticalities in staying at that school. My parents said that we could stay if we wanted - even with the impracticalities - or we could find another school. Being the eldest out of me and my sister the decisions generally came down to me so there was a lot to think about. I debated for weeks until the time was coming where the decision HAD to be made but I still couldn't figure it out. The deputy head knew I was going through this dilemma and so one weekend he asked me to stay behind after lessons. He gave me a coin and told me to asign a decision to a face eg stay = heads and go = tails. I threw, and it landed 'go'. Immediately I looked at him and said 'But, I don't want to go!' He smiled at me and said; 'And so you have your decision.'

I think it works if you have a decision to make that you feel quite strongly about. I've made it more complicated recently - throwing a line instead of 1 coin yeilding the possiblity of a 'maybe' answer. Maybe I should go back to 1 coin again....
