I have been asked to write a book. I love to write and have always done so. I don't feel capable of writing a book. I am fearful but I am also wanting to do if I succeed. My question was "will I be a successful author?" and my answer was this >>> Yi's answer, 29.2.5 to 2 which has me perplexed. TIA for your assistance

Hi Hageon,

"Will I be a successful author?"
29.2.5 to 2 ~ With a good Editor you will.

From the Daniel Young i-Ching:

29. Pitfalls

A series of pitfalls can be passed with confidence. Strengthen the heart with an unselfish offering. Action brings honor.

2. In a dangerous pit prayers have little effect.

(You can't do it by yourself.)

5. The pit is not full. Recognize its potential for completeness and peacefulness and there will be no error.

(What you lack in experience can be cultivated with the guidance of a good editor.)

and

2. Receptive Power

Receptiveness is supremely successful when used in a responsible way and in a spirit of sacrifice. The forecast is for success with the strength and gracefulness of nature. The superior person has a goal. Trying to lead causes confusion. Following gains control. Agreeability makes friends, aggressiveness loses them. Be accepting and the forecast is fortunate.

(With a strong editor, and appropriate deference on your part, your talent will develop naturally and gracefully, resulting in the publishing of a successful book.)

Your toss reads like a recipe for success: Your Talent + Strong Editor = Successful Book

All Best!

Yi's answer has a texture of needing to follow this intuitively and bit by bit. Like the mare of hex 2 that is in response to each moments instruction. I'm guessing because this is a new situation for you that in many ways you won't know how to proceed. Take the first step and follow. 'Fear is just wisdom in the face of danger' is the saying that comes to mind for 29. Line 2: there are risks. Line 5: but the risks wont overwhelm you. Hex 2, use the fear to lead you along, each time you feel it you'll know there is something for you to look at or to learn or to ask about. I would also take some practical precautions like liasing with whoever you are writing the book for and marking out realistic expectations and goals etc. Hope it goes well :)

Hageon,I threw in a similar question. You see I am a music artist. I feel lost, struggling for freedom of expression, for truth and clarity in days that this seems impossible. Did you publish your book? Was it successful? Did you find a good, a great editor? Did have one in mind? If you did how? All my life I have been looking for guidance, I know the fire burns deep, I know somehow dreams can come true. What happened in your case? I wish you the best. SF
