Hi Everyone! I'm new and would love help with a reading I just did.

Background: We are looking at a commercial space for our yoga studio. The place we are looking at is ideal price/location/size and character wise. It's not so ideal in terms of lots of county bureaucracy we are facing right now, and the landlords are putting it on us to deal with the permitting process (they just want to write checks for building rehab). Our time is running out before we need to find a space and get going. My worry is that we are going to waste a lot of time and money on getting this place "up to code" or that we may do all that we can and it still may not pass inspection (it's an old building). At any rate, we are also being encouraged by a variety of people to not tip our hand entirely to the county to create unnecessary red tape...lots of people are telling us to "do the minimum" to get the permit for our business and screw the super annoying details. While I understand this reasoning I don't want bad karma for fudging anything (even if some of the stuff is ridiculous). Sigh..help!

I Ching came back: 36 changing to 63 with an intervening line about a prince who feigned insanity to get out of a difficult situation...

Both hexagrams didn't seem good...and I guess I'm not sure if the oracle was telling us that we shouldn't go forward, we should leave this aside and look elsewhere...or what...any thoughts would be super helpful!

hi nightlight, can i ask how did you frase the question? what exactly did you ask? because even if both hexagrams can seem problematic the line does indicate that persistence is favorable.

would help to know the question :)

tks

Thank you so much Yoana!

I asked the question, "Should we proceed with trying to obtain the permits and lease for this building?"

36.5-->63

I don't think the yi is concerned with bureaucratic karma here. If you want to put a business in this particular spot you should do what you can to avoid all these city code licenses and permits. They will take all they can get. A yoga studio is a humble service that gives greatly back to the community. Don't give away too much to the office-vultures! Do the minimal and keep quiet about the rest. ;)

Later when the studio is in full gear you could do what you need to get it more up to code.

That reading seems to echoes your friends advise, nightlight .. .no need to reveal a lot and maybe look at the other side if you see things that bothers you. H63 sometimes is just work in progress so in order to proceed swiftly maybe you take care of the details that might get you into trouble. Maybe an expert in those procedures could help you so you know you don't do anything illegal but not put your self in unnecessary and expensive actions.

Gooooood luck with them :)

thank you!

Well...we just found out that to make the space commercial "ready" we would need to reinforce the floors to carry more weight, create handicap accessible entrances and bathrooms, etc....and we're just way too mom and pop for it...mostly in terms of simply not having the budget to do any of it! Thank you so much for all the help....mysterious reading given the turn of events today...scratching my head a little still..

those requirements seem basic for any business... here mostly is the owner's responsibility to provide them if they want to rent the place for a commercial use. Could the prince Chi be the owners ? Just a thought...There is a common practice here, when the owner can not afford any adjustment the renter pays it and the mount is subtracted from the monthly rent . In any rate, before you do anything official its better to do some research and consult a professional.. or you can ask a real estate office as they seem to know a lot about those laws and maybe its a less expensive way.

thank you!

It turns out that the owners had knowledge of lots of problems with the building but were not telling us the full story. They were, in a sense, pretending not to know what was going on hoping we would get into the lease without caring or knowing ourselves that the building wasn't up to code. Interesting symbolism!

I'm wondering about your name, nightlight. Is this name in reference to this reading or did you have it before? (36. Darkening of the Light)
