Which post are you referring to, I can't see it. Give number of post

Oh post 3...you mean you didn't know what a ladybird was? Not sure what you're asking?

Recently the answer was recieved when I had a lot of change going on, I think its a natural progression. Like when people fall into line that do it naturally or should, they do not really think too much about it.

I received the answer yesterday about a client that was not all together happy with our service. However, when i looked at what he was complaining about it was not alltogether factual. Saying that, some of it was, of which I offered compensation. He was not dumping us all together but wanted to go down to a lower plan. Which i do not think he should due to some factors, meaning our goals are nearly achieved for him. Lowering the plan will slow the process down and probably cause more frustration for him long term.

I sent him a detailed message breaking it all down and asked him to weigh it all up over the weekend. Then to let me know on Monday if he still wants to downgrade. I am guessing the Yi is advising to follow his lead, or it could be he will follow mine.

So my question was about how the email I sent him will be receieved, I did not consult before I dealt with the situation. The answer came after replying to him,

Overall, the client is approachable and is one of the better clients we have. However, his email was a little short.

Will see Monday what happens, either way there is following involved. My gut feeling, is that he will stay on his current plan.

So did he stay on his current plan Steve ?

These threads on experiences with unchanging hexagrams are very old now and so I thought I would add some updates or rather just share if my understanding has evolved for me in any way through experiences of the last 11 years!

Well, in a nutshell I think Precision Grace nailed where I'm with it 11 years on

OK, so I reckon 17uc for a toilet blockage would pretty much mean "Have a look again, are you sure it's blocked?" because if it were really blocked you'd need some advice on how to deal with it so there would be at least one changing line.

17uc in practical/mundane terms at least is to go with prevailing conditions, to not fight, correct or change prevailing conditions. 18, it's pair, on the other hand is calling for some corrective action, action that's pushing back against the way things seem to be going.

A common situation everyone has likely faced is where there is a need or an option to go somewhere as planned, but, for example...

....your child has a slightly tickly throat
....the car was making a slightly peculiar noise yesterday
.....the weather is terrible even slightly hazardous
....you had a text to say the parcel you ordered is arriving today not tomorrow as planned...

.....and so on...things like that..all smallish things in themselves but all together impacting on your choice

So prevailing conditions are such that everything is leaning towards or taking you towards cancelling the appointment or whatever it is. I think everyone knows that tipping point before cancelling some plan, you get to the point where you say 'there's too much against it I'm staying home'. Generally in such scenarios there's uncertainty as to what is best to do, cancel or go ahead. 17uc here I think would be simply to be guided by prevailing conditions that are presenting themselves. Very often one has a gut feeling about this and so deciding becomes easier if you don't resist that gut feeling.

But all the above issues could potentially be dealt with so the plan or appointment could be kept and I think this would be more of an 18 approach. You could make arrangements about the parcel, you could try to make things work and in doing this you'd be really working against the prevailing conditions because if you have cast 18 just allowing things to go the way they are going is not the idea.

In 17 you are going with things in 18 you are pushing back a bit against things falling apart. I think LiSe's quote summed that up, from the first post here

In terms of pairs Lise once wrote of 17/18

Make your road correct

17 - follow the right things and time.
18 - fix what is not right

On another note I once cast 17uc about Christmas dinner which it was my job to prepare for people with different tastes. Looking back I can see I had way too many goals to impose on giving everyone the best meal I could whilst really none of them wanted me to go to a huge amount of trouble and I could have taken them at their word and made it simpler. If the prevailing conditions were hardship for me (for various reasons) and their not minding too much what they ate then if I had gone in the direction of prevailing conditions it would have been easier. In fact I wonder if I went in the direction of 18, trying hard to fix the problem of catering to very different tastes. So I went on seeing it as a problem I needed to work at, 18, where Yi was telling me 17. Particularly with unchanging hexagrams I notice how present it's pair is and I always find it helps to think about the pair, helps to get perspective from the other side of the picture/coin/mirror.

Hi Trojina, at the time he stayed on the same plan but eventually went to a lower plan, this is still an ongoing issue. Trying to do the same job with less money. Maybe the advice is to keep following the situation up on a few fronts.
