I had agreed to babysit my Mum's dog and was expecting her to arrive at 9am. At 10am neither my mum nor the dog had arrived and no phone call. I texted and called. No answer. By 11.30 I was vaguely worried. Had something happened? I called again and this time the mobile was answered, but nobody spoke on the other end. Cripes, i thought, what's happened here? I thought: maybe she's had a stroke and can't speak.

I'd barely had time to wonder whether that meant 'no' when my mum texted, saying all was well and she'd taken the dog out with her instead and hadn't I got her message?

Not quite sure how yi intended 54uc to be interpreted, but there was a definite 'hanging on the telephone' aspect to the situation!

I asked: "What do I need to know about my life being pre-determined?"And I got 54uc. Which was pretty funny to me, and also a nice commentary on "free will."

A health / medical / procedure reading.

I was due for a covid19 test this morning, at a UK hospital (mandatory before a procedure I need to have done). I couldn't find much info on social, except some horrendous clips of excruciating swabs which look like reaching your brain (!). I've read that covid19 tests vary greatly from country to country, and that in some countries they're a lot more painful than in others, so... I was wondering how bad the UK hospital one will be.

How much will I suffer during this test? 54 uc / unchanging.
I thought omg, Judgement says "attack fierce/terrible", and got very stressed.
And... it actually wasn't half as bad as I was expecting. Two throat swabs which gave me two individual short coughs (no gagging), and two nose swabs which each gave me a bit of a momentary sting in the nostrils. No after effects whatsoever, not even tearing (which the nurse told me sometimes happens automatically).

My conclusion for 54 here: secondary, not that bad, not a huge deal, nothing major.

There is possibly nothing really to suffer with 54 unchanged, as it has 54, joy, as a lower trigram. It just says to follow an energy - to obede, to accept things. Very fitting for a situation in which you have to undergo test or a treatment!

You inspired me to look through my journals. 54 unchanged I got several times when I found it hard to accept a situation in which I felt misjudged and mistreated by a powerful person. "Will there be any change to the better?" I asked. Today I think that the situation was pretty clear. Things were not as unfair as I thaught they'd be. My position was weak, my situation less than perfect and that was it, and I had to follow.

I know I'm coming from the future (8years after this thread started) but I want to say Trojina's opening post is SO insightful it equals a closing moment of a talk therapy process. It answers questions on 54 uc where other Yi reading approaches are just too open.

Hi all, I ended up with an unexpected day off work today, after having to do a day swap to work yesterday instead. This has very fortunately fallen in front of a 4 day holiday long weekend where I live. So an unscheduled five day break for me! Lovely!

Anyway I'm just sharing this as I did a reading this morning to ask what my general focus for today should be. I got 54uc. Often not one of the hexagrams I'm pleased to see.
After some contemplation, and reading this thread, I'm taking it to mean that everyone else is busy doing their own thing, so don't expect to share the day with anyone else.
Not long before the reading I had been vaguely pondering who else might be around with free time today. (I'm just emerging into catching up with people again, after spending most of my energies this year on my inner circle, through various ongoing crises.)
So, today, no plans, will just make do!
Not a bad way to be.

I personally find 54 unchanging very clear in relationship readings.
I received it a few weeks ago when I was supposed to go on a date and asked how it would go.
Not only that the person cancelled the date in the same day and didn’t reschedule -I later found out (via common friend) that he was meeting his ex girlfriend. Haha.
