Hi all!

It occurred to me that the ruling lines of some hexagrams seem to be simply reinforcing the main theme of the hexagram. For example, 15.3 and 25.1. Perhaps there are more such ruling lines but I can't come up with any right now. I was wondering if there is more to the aforementioned lines or other such ruling lines that I am not able to discern.

Any thoughts?

Ruling lines are just one man's idea. They were invented in the Han Dynasty by a guy trying to explain things. They are not essential to understanding the Yi, and in fact can be a real distraction. I think your time is better spent elsewhere.

Thanks. Good to know. That's probably sound advice.

It comes from having wasted some of my own time with this.
All of the lines are equally important.
