Has anyone used standard dice to form a hexagram? Would you simply use even and odd? What about the moving line?

Thanks

Roll one die for each line; odd = yang, even = yin.
If you only want one moving line, roll the die again to get the line number.
For coin odds, roll again, but with two dice, for each line. Both even (or odd, pick one ahead of time) = moving line.

Thanks, Russel. I've been toying around with tracking Craps tables in the casino for fun and picking up on the ebb and flow. I was wondering if there was a better way for 2 dice rolled at once other than simply even/odd. Lately, I've used 3 rolls for 1 line so if there are 3 odd rolls in a row it's a moving line. 3 even, moving line. Basically, every hexagram is 18 rolls of the dice.

Thanks again

I've been carrying 8 sided die in my purse. Two of them that are different colors, one for the bottom trigram and one for the top. Each number represents a trigram. I roll the pair of them twice, once for each hexagram. Then I just figure the changing lines in my head. It's an on-the-go approach! I've thought about making my own 8 sided dice with some clay and etching the trigrams into them instead of using numbers. Tried to form one die about 4 months ago and had a hell of a time getting each side to be equal.

The Numbers:

1 - Kun - Earth
2 - Gen - Mountain
3 - Kan - Water
4 - Xun - Wind/Wood
5 - Zhen - Thunder
6 - Li - Fire
7 - Dui - Lake
8 - Qian - Heaven

The dice come in all colors and sizes. I picked my pair up at a local gaming store and made sure they were two different colors.

Hi Courtney,
Thanks for sharing - I'll look into those dice. I currently only have standard 6 sides and 10 sides.

Nice artwork, btw!
