Well the three solid lines can be seen in several images. But, you can see 4 solid lines in another. These look more like marks on a wall for time, or a badge of honor for a hunting kill, or recognition of something.

It is notable that people who are skilled at Yi divination are necessarily attuned to recognizing and applying patterns in situations, as opposed to the phenomenon of https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apophenia, which most people can probably find themselves capable of experiencing.

But yes, svenrus many of the marks do look like Qian.

Very interesting indeed!
Moss Elk's idea that it was recognition for achievements 'feels' very true.

I'd like to add that the symbol of three was found in quite a lot of ancient cultures.
See e.g. the Indian tripundra, or a selection of ancient examples on number three.
