I think divination differs from those two examples by virtue of open subjectivity. There’s strong denial of subjective interpretation of religious texts, whereas subjective interpretation is inescapable with divination.

You know, I’ve been thinking lately how stubbornly independent and individual Yijing users seem to be. Though we are sometimes assumed to be weak minded, having to rely on an oracle to show our way etc, just the opposite appears to be true. Without exception, I think every participant on this board is fiercely individual. More so than I see elsewhere around me; incomparably so when compared to religious followers. chuckling… maybe that’s why we, of all people, require an oracle in our lives?

I'm thinking it might be a way to organize the associations I see noted here between astrology, tarot and Yi. Oh, wait, we're already doing that! <g>
