It says my last visit is from 2009 oOo! But actually I visit a lot, just don't always sign in.
Recently I have found a desire to do meditation again. In the past, I have tried meditation and had problems with doing it (fall asleep or can't stop thinking) but I seem to be having more success with my attempts at home recently. I took some instruction in zazen years ago, but I am thinking perhaps of studying another tradition of meditation this time. My question is about finding a teacher.

The oracle was kind enough to give me this direction:
59.1.2.6 to 3

Which seems relevant enough, and relevant to the kind of meditation I am looking at (Lojong Mind Training, primarily) The idea of dissolving hardened issues goes very well in there, and lines 1 and 2 seem fairly auspicious, but it's line 6 that has me perplexed. "He disolves his blood" sounds a bit ominous to me. From line 1 I realize I might have to drive a bit to get the training, and that could be tricky, as I share a car right now. But nothing to concern me in lines 1 & 2. line 6 may have connotations of "getting away from danger." Is there a dangerous teacher I should worry about? Or is it just saying I need to maintain an impersonal relationship to the teacher - ie not become emotionally attached? All this makes sense, but it's not giving me an idea about where to look.

Resolving to 3, I realize there will be hard work involved at the start, but I expect it will get easier.

I live in an area with many opportunities for this kind of training. I've been reading Pema Chodron and Ken McLeod.

Any thoughts or feedback on this casting would be much appreciated.

I think your casting is auspicious for finding a teacher. 59 (Scattering or Dispersing) is (in my opinion) the scattering of yin and yang selves that occurs at death, and meditation in a way is the practice of death. 3 (Rallying per Bradford) suggests union with others. I have no background in formal meditation but found this Wikipedia entry on Lojong most interesting.

Thanks for your reply -- very helpful. Yes, Lojong and tonglen very interesting to me. I think a good practice for the current times.

I'm working on meditation on my own, using materials I can find at hand. I'd still like to take instruction, but scheduling that would be difficult. I hope that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
