Hexagram 25 (lines 1,3,4,5) to hexagram 52

I decided to try the I Ching for the first time. I asked the Oracle "what is my immediate incarnation objective?", and it replied with hexagram 25 (lines 1, 3, 4, 5) changing to hexagram 52. I read the meanings from the Wilhelm/Baynes book, but I am still not so clear on what the reading means (I'm new to this).

you are attempting to way surpass your situation in trying to pin down a kind of 'aims and objectives' list for your life


Hex 25 is about the unexpected....living innocently, taking each moment as it comes...as best, as honestly as you can in your actions. In short your answer I feel totally negates your question, I feel it refuses your question...in a jovial manner.


All you have to do is live your life as it comes. It is not available to you to have a clear incarnation objective........I mean there is just living. Is singing a birds 'incarnation objective' or does a bird just sing !?

Haha! I figured that much, since I'm always so anxious about the future. The Yi is truly something else...

Its an answer that could be interpreted many many ways and they could all be true. That meaning leapt out at me in the way it would if it were my reading....but there are plenty of other ways to see it too...including your own take which is the most valuable of all

It's like it knows I'm an anxious person and it's telling me to just live one moment at a time, do away with expectations and be true to yourself. It even recommends stilling the mind (meditation?) I feel a lot better now
