Hi, thanks for stopping by. Since you're here, please advise on my query to the iching about getting a specific birthday gift to a friend of mine.

I asked "What if I buy this for A"

I got 41, Decreasing moving line 6 changing to 19, Approaching. I'm using Alfred Hung's "The Complete I Ching"

My interpretation is primary school at best. It seems like the yi is saying that it's good to go ahead, The only warning seem to come from the commentary "The superior person controls his anger and restraints his desire" I have a hard time trying to figure it out and need some help. :)

I am totally lost when it comes to hexagram 19.

Thanks for reading!! :)

41.6 - 19

What a perfect answer!

I think that how your gift will be received depends on the mind of the giver. If the gift is a wonderful gift for the person and you give it out of generousity, then all is good. I wonder if the gift will show the receiptant something about you. LISE 41.6 says, "A soul in which diminishing and augmenting do not exist, has no ego. He can find his road simply by walking it. He will find servants without offering them a place to live because being close to a soul like this has more value than anything else. He needs no home, he is a home."

19 can be about something or someone approaching, or the expectation of this arrival, like a drumroll. 19.6 also nicely applies to your question. LISE writes, "A small heart occupies a big place in one's head. A big heart forgets itself and thinks only of the other and his well-being ... For everything one gives, one acquires soul".

I think this is a very good thing, this purchase. However, your attitude in giving might be the difference between a birthday gift, and a thoughtful and generous act that reflects who you are as a person.
