An ‘I Ching string’ is a bead set to consult with, which gives you a perfect blend of natural flow and meditative presence: you can generate your hexagram as fast or as slowly as you like, using the feeling of beads passing between your fingers to keep you present and aware. They’re also very convenient – much more so than coins, especially if you want something you can take with you and maybe use in public places.
