I could capture fresh air
and hold it
for nights when I close the window
against the frost.

The best way?

I shall ask the spiritual plane

it knows about aether and preseveration.

I shall accumulate notes
on how to free the passage
before it drives through. Ready
with a bottle in hand I’ll concentrate,
commit to the present

and spring.

The witness
from the hierarchies of heaven
will address me
at the time
when it is ripe to attack the emptiness,
catch the wind, land lightly
on my feet

and bring it to earth.

I shall ask the illustrious master
where to store it if I reach that far.

How indeed?

Movement
and vitality brought to inertia
and released.

It has never been done before.

The fluid restrained
and let go.

Am I doing the right thing?

Ethereality confined to an early riser
awakened
by thunder, allowed to circulate
and return to the source
from which it came.

An answer:

“Stay on the ground.”
