I asked what my next step should be regarding my circumstances.

The answer I got was:

36.1.3.4 to 16

I am visiting a friend on a film set at the moment and I'm going to visit another friend for a couple of days before coming back to the set. So I take this as "sticking it out and showing enthusiasm - but not revealing the true me?"

Does anyone have any interpretations regarding the changing lines? I'd really appreciate it

Your steps should be [Wilhelm]:
1. Darkening of the light during flight. He lowers his wings. The noble eats nothing for three days on his travels. But he has somewhere to go. The host has to talk about him.
If you wanted something big, but didn't get it - don't expect too much, lower your ambitions.
Go visit another friend, ignoring any possible negativity from your film-set friend.

3. Darkening of the light on the hunt in the south. Their great leader is captured. One should not expect perseverance too soon.
The visit will go well, but don't expect too much (whatever you had plans for).

4. He penetrates the left side of the belly. One gets the heart of the darkening of the light and leaves the gate and courtyard.
Kinda the same, you are in the middle of the tunnel/ heart of the problem/ darkest hour.

16 stands not only for joy, but as a period of rest between the cycles.
My take is - slow down, curb your enthusiasm, it won't happen as fast as you want to, but keep on going.

My personal experience with 16 has consisted of things like wishful thinking and being fooled by (read as enthusiastic about) illusions people put forth. (Look at me! I'm a dancing elephant to your jig)

Most Hexagrams seem to have multiple facets, just though i'd add that part.

Thanks guys - I apologise for the vagueness of my question.

I really really appreciate both your inputs - it helps me understand more the nature of i ching's meanings. As I am sometimes a bit of a confused person haha
