I’ve been seeing a guy for about 2 months, everything is going well right now and we really like each other. This summer, he is going to Vegas for a minimum of 2 weeks with a chance of it extending up to 6 weeks. It’s kind of a work trip but is also kind of not - he will break even if he goes at it is more for fun at networking than anything else. He just found out about the potential for it to extend and I’m feeling anxious about it (which I’ve not said to him yet). He hasn’t really extended an invite to me to come out at this point other than saying he hoped I could come for a few days if my schedule allows.

2 weeks is one thing, but over a month is something else entirely. We have been starting to get more physical lately and I asked the I Ching about pumping the breaks on that until getting more clarity on this trip and how long he will be gone. I admit I am not secure and do not feel okay waiting back home that long while my boyfriend gallivants around Las Vegas without me. It may be too soon to expect an invite, especially since dates have not been nailed down yet, but if I don’t receive one I would likely opt out of the relationship. It would drive me crazy and send my anxiety through the roof.

I will just add that hexagram 16, relating to the 54, is connected to something not lasting. the summary is, as the person above mentioned, you are in a powerless position ( 54 ) to stop a person who is driven by enthusiasm ( 16 ). Enthusiasm in general tends to have a somewhat negative connotation in the IChing, as in, a person driven by sensations, not something lasting. Las Vegas is a perfect situation for him. Seeking short term sensations with new people.

I have received 54 for relationship questions and it was for situations when i was super interested in the person but it wasn't mutual. I felt powerless to keep them or to get them to act as if they cared. 16 I am learning, isn't necessarily a great hexagram if you are looking for a lasting relationship. It has a 'smoke and mirrors' vibe to it. It sounds great in some contexts but for a lasting relationship ... it suggests something fleeting,
