A puzzling answer to a question... "should I purchase Online Clarity's Change Circle subscription?"

The I Ching gave me 37.3.6 as the answer, and I for the life of me cannot really interpret what it's telling me.

Or whether it's answering my query or something related to it.

The I Ching has shown its awareness of my unconscious thoughts, after all, which has been ever so curious at times... heh, an Oracle, indeed...

Are you a beginner ? If so perhaps the answer shows an enclosed space (37) in which to explore(3)

If you are a beginner I can see the 3 there as relating hexagram, that's you looking around, exploring.

3 as context - the Yi is talking about when you are a beginner. "Difficulty at the Beginning."

37.3 It is better to be too serious than too lax and lack disicpline.

37.6 Through sincerity you recover your true self. You do not become too severe, as you may have been in line 3. The word in Chinese translated as "sincerity" is complex.
Wing-Tsit Chan defines it: "This word means not only sincerity in the narrow sense, but also honesty, absence of fault, seriousness, being true to one's true self, being true to the nature of being, actuality, realness."

Perhaps the reading is saying besides any individual step you might take in learning like joining a discussion group, you should understand the goal of self realization and character development that is purpose of studying the Yi.

I was going to answer this thread with just "Yes," but decided that wouldn't be very helpful.

A pattern I've seen in my own readings from time to time is I'll ask about doing something, and Yi will give me a reading I don't understand, and which doesn't help me know whether to do the thing. Then sometimes if I end up doing it, the reading will turn out to be advice at that point, how to proceed, things to watch for, and so forth. Maybe this one is like that?

That's perhaps the feeling. Can't think of anything better...

Perhaps the I Ching indeed knew that I would end up joining, and so offered advice related to that choice.
