Applying for this Scholarship 58.2.3>49

This is my dream program. It allows me to study in different countries and to have diplomas issued by each partnered university in my favorite field (languages and literature).
I meet the criteria to begin with BUT need a fully funded scholarship. The places are limited.

What happens if I apply? 58.2.3> 45
Opening to Radical Change (Hillary's words)/Satisfaction and Revolution (Bradford's words).

The second line is promising: true and confident opening, regrets vanish (Hillary)/ Trusting joy, promising, regrets pass- commentary: a belief in the purpose (Bradford).
But the third line, not so much: "Coming opening, pitfall" (Hillary)/Future joy, disappointing- commentary: the position isn't appropriate (Bradford).

What does it mean? That it's good at first and disappointing later? Or maybe I can't succeed in this year's opening?

PS: My depression is largely due to inability to change the situation. Last year I participated in protests in my country without any great result. Those days I was stressed but not depressed despite all pressures because I was hopeful.
Then I planned to invest in real estate in a remote area, however the inflation ruined anything again: it cost about 4000$ in January, 6000 $ in February, and while I was considering partnership with my sister to buy it, the price went up to 8000- 9000 $ in April!! Investment cancelled. Imagine how our authorities are determined to ruin us. Now they are spending money on making and sending drones to Russia and installing intelligent cameras in the streets in order to arrest women without hijab. Disgusting.
And I don't talk about emotional disappointments of last years.

I think perhaps this attitude or belief is exactly what line 3 warns about.

'Coming opening, pitfall.'

This line is to do with the dangers of locating satisfaction somewhere off in the future. 58, Opening, reaching out to share, joy, communication, excitement at being able to share, all good. But in line 3 one is sort of holding that in anticipation too much and that can be a pitfall. It's too rigid a stance really (zhi 43) for the fluidity of 58. That rigidity would be 'this has to work for me as that and that and that hasn't worked'. It's not like that.

This doesn't mean 'do not apply' it's just saying don't imagine all will be good in your life if you do this. Leave room for it not being all okay and leave room for it not being quite as you thought and yet still being a progressive move.

I think you can take that literally as 'be open, communicate, give it your best shot' and so yes apply and go towards that change you want but try not to look forward in the line 3 kind of a way.

I think the change patterns reflect what I see as the gist of advice here. Your yang pattern is 46 so the question arises from or is about striving, making progress though effort. It's opposite, the yin pattern of 25 can be the way through which can be here I think to apply then let it go, let it be. While 46 is about that conscious striving up 25 allows room for the unexpected, for luck, for things to work out by themselves.

I don't know if you asking for a straight prediction of whether you will get in or not. You asked 'what will happen' if you apply...well it's worth applying (I'd say that whatever the answer) and I think the answer may be giving hints in line 2 about how you present yourself in application. This would be to be very open, forthcoming, enthusiastic, don't worry about holding yourself in reserve for worry of how you may appear and so on. But on top of that there's line 3 saying don't hold on to this like it's the only light in the darkness' so to speak, loosen hold of that idea a bit.

49 as relating hexagram is good here, the impetus for change is developed, you're ready to start to make those changes but not yet trusting they can be made, hardly daring to believe they can be made. It's a good time to communicate your intentions for radical change, others are open to you (58.2) but be cautious of your own fixed visions of what the course might be like (58.3). As I've said line 3 is much to do with the dangers of looking forward to things in too fixed a way and it might be useful to think about what those dangers are.

Scholarships are often granted on the first come first serve basis (even if this is not actually advertised). So I’d say submit the strongest application you possibly can, with a personal statement to knock their socks off, as soon as you can.

Like you, I absolutely needed to leave my country (Radical Change) some decades ago. And leave I did, except I kept returning for one reason or another. Not really seeing another choice, I used any Opening to leave again… until I managed to stay away and start a new life elsewhere.

Actioning our hopes and dreams informs the Powers that Be we’re ready for that change… Apply! Best of luck!

Your words are very helpful and to the point.

Yesterday I was visiting the program's website when I noticed an interesting point. I already knew that the application opens two times per academic year, first in the autumn and second in the spring (now).
After searching more, I learned that the fully funded scholarships are granted only to the students who apply in the first round.
In early 2022 I had asked the program's responsible about (full) scholarships for 2023 entry & she had replied not for this year, maybe for 2024. But it's been available in October 2022 :/ Apparently they have changed their mind. However, had I been informed, I'm not sure if I applied as I was so busy with Iran's events. The internet access was very limited, too.

I got the hexagram for Opening (58) with two changing lines: the first indicates good fortune, the second, pitfall. Another way to look at it

I hope I can stand by my decision and come back to apply next October.

I did apply.

The results will come in July.

Even if I obtain the scholarship I'm not certain if I go for it though. I've been through upheavals and am not passionate about new ones at this time.

I didn't mean to be unsensitive or irrespectful, I know where you are coming from. If I asked it is because I got the same hex yesterday about a situation where I felt regret not following up with it and I see now how my attitude was open at first then I closed up because of fear; it reminded me some old bad memories, but still I couldn't stop feeling guilty.
I laughed- relieved, because those challenges are in fact as you describe them upheavals that I too am not ready to take now, or anymore.
Strange enough the question was about the loss in 25.3 and I couldn't see if it was my cow or theirs.
