A few years ago I had a no fault accident (damn kangaroo).
I followed up with getting it fixed through my insurance company and their repairer.

After I picked it up there was an issue with one of my tyres needing air every few weeks. I got the tyre repaired with my mechanic but within 12 months the tyre was bald and damaged regardless. I was travelling at the time so took it to the local tyre place. He showed me the damage etc. and I had to replace it with a new one as the other tyres were still in brand new condition.

The only explanation I can come up with is, the repairers swapped my good tyre with a damaged one. It sounds far fetched but nothing surprises me these days. My son is a mechanic. When he was an apprentice he was appalled at what the company he worked for did to rip people off.
I'd only had the car, at the time, for less than 12 months and had bought it from a reputable dealer.

What do I need to know about the success of my claim
Hex 29.5>7
Taking it one step at a time will bring resolution in my favour.

What do I need to know about being financially compensated for the new tyre I had to buy
Hex 24.4.5>17

Line 4 - get the tyre fixed and paying for it myself
Line 5 - the money being returned to me for the tyre

The insurance company's been in touch but he really didn't believe the story.

What do I need to know about compensation for the tyre

Hex 2.6>23

I'll take that as a No!! I'd have to fight it.

Argh. I'm sorry this is happening - so aggravating.

I guess we can note that finds-its-level in 29.5 doesn't mean it'll necessarily go how you want.

Are you still having trouble with it now?

It happened end of 2022 into 2023 so the tyre issue was resolved at my cost. I just mentioned it to the insurance company when I was talking with them about change of address the other day. He suggested putting in a formal complaint so that's where it's at.
I'm not attached to the outcome. More it was just 20 minutes of my time to file the complaint so if I get the money back I do if I don't then at least I tried.
