Hello everyone,

I have been inquiring with the Yi about a relationship between a woman and I. It seems that the hexagram 7 comes up as the resulting hexagram many, many times (eg 28.3.4.5 changing to 7 - and that is just one of many examples). I am at a loss about what this regular appearance of 7 means for us? I know that it is the hexagram for Army, but there is no "conflict" between us.

I know that I have not given a lot of detail about my relationship. Let me know if I need to share more (and I gladly will).

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Many thanks in advance.

Do you feel like you're engaged in a 'campaign' to 'win' her?

Hi Hilary,

What a great interpretation! That's got to be it! I have to admit, that I have thought and "planned" how to "win" her. (and win her in the honourable sense)

Some of the questions that I ask are worded such as "What can be expected if...." or "What can be expected of the romantic relationship...". Does 7 as a resulting hexagram point to me "winning" her? Or does it mean that I will have to do something to "win" her?

Again THANKS for your great interpretation!

Hi Don,

I don't see the second hexagram as 'resulting' so much as 'relating', so I wouldn't look to it for any definite predictions on what might happen. As relating hexagram, 7 to me just says 'you're approaching this as a campaign': it speaks of the ongoing campaign, not victory or defeat. Its immediate influence will be felt in the moving lines; you really don't want it to become the relationship's enduring pattern.

An 'army' mentality has its uses for getting things done: determination, focus, and the ability to use your whole self to your best advantage - including the darker 'underground rivers' that you might not normally tap into.

It also has its dangers. Campaigns tend to have 'collateral damage': a few missing limbs or salted fields may be considered means justified by the ends. And campaigns also tend to have enemies. Whom do you have to fight and defeat in order to 'win'?

The dragon, of course! (medieval kind)

My experience with this one is that quite a lot of people find that dragon to be an aspect of the beloved... which is when things start to get awkward...
