Well, what better response than Approach…? I have directly experienced its static form to be generally auspicious, and specifically indicate someone reaching out. Nonetheless, I’ve yet to hear from the person in question…

Now, this is a tad more complicated. Who is still transitioning, and what is not over yet? Does this mean X will indeed touch base, maybe in a while (hopefully not three years…), or rather that I’m not yet across i.e. not yet done with this matter, but will in time return to myself (good old 24)? And if this is the case, how to interpret the first casting in hindsight?

I asked only a couple of days ago. Some specific circumstances were occurring that would have called for a contact, which as I said did not happen. X could still touch base now, but it would be more out of context, so to speak, and hence much less likely.

Potentially you still have an attachment to this situation, possibly hopefully, emotionally but you'll get over it and return to self.

I see 19 as describing a situation where someone has had an inspirational insight which they now wish to share. Think of 18. Work on what has been Spoiled, as an experience giving one the sense that somehow or other Love will always find a way. Then 19 wants to preach this gospel, spread the good news etc. but the results may not be immediately obvious and one may give up or expect results too soon. Also getting an unchanging hexagram can indicate the situation does not change. Thus in response to your question, "Will X contact me?" I see 19uc as saying you were optimistic that if X would reach out any problems could be resolved but as the hexagram was unchanging I think that would indicate X taking no action.

I checked my log. 19.0 indeed came up in one case when I asked how a conflict would evolve, and the other person contacted me the following day. I cast it also in a couple of situations where I was hoping for some progress and took successful action to make it; at least in one of them, however, the progress was short-lived.

There would’ve been many better ways to indicate X would not get in touch, some plain (36.0, for instance), others more allusive (16.0, anyone?). Hex 19 leaves me baffled.

I was surprised to get a “sublime” line for this question. Then I looked up my log and recalled I got the same casting a couple of years ago when inquiring about a hotel I was considering for my summer vacation. Back then it literally meant “approach + surprise”: when I called to check availability I found out it was unexpectedly closed for the season. Not so auspicious after all…!

Please Yi, be clear: future of contact? 1.4 > 9
I take this as counsel to rise above this situation, put it behind me for good.
