I have not been feeling completely fulfilled or accepted in my current position and there is little room for autonomy. I asked the question of whether I should begin to look for employment elsewhere and I received Hexagram 56 with no changing lines. My first reaction is that it may be time to experience something different. Before the pandemic one of my passions was planning how I might promote travel to a favorite European country. It was interesting that the hexagram I received has the theme of wandering and traveling, something I enjoy greatly. Can anyone else shed any new light or elaborate? Thank you in advance!

56 for a job to do with travelling does seem appropriate!

As a direct answer to "should I look for employment elsewhere," I'm not sure. 56 isn't a simple "yes" or "no," Yi can't really answer like that. It could be describing what the job-hunting effort will be like - or that whatever job you'd get will be temporary - or it could reflect your current feeling of not being accepted where you are. (56 is like being a tourist, and tourists aren't really accepted in the place they're visiting.)

You already have a job, so there's probably nothing to lose by looking around if you're motivated to. If you're offered something you could always ask Yi what it would be like to work in the new place, or some such question, before making a final decision.

Hi Anna_C Hex 56 unchanging in this instance.....I feel it's saying two things - you're not at 'home' in your current job so it's time to look for new horizons.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response, Liselle. This approach makes a great deal of sense. Many thanks!

As a follow up, I asked what I could expect in terms of career in 2020 and received Hexagram 18.5 changing to Hexagram 57. All this seems interrelated and the themes of issues with authority figures, old patterns, the land of my ancestors (hence travel), and family ties all find their way in the answer.
