I'm falling behind in posting Yi news as they appear in the media... Here are a few recent ones:

1) More about dance and the Yi.

Dances are constructed of movement phrases, and in all but the most purely improvisational work, each phrase reflects a decision – about the dancers' movements, relationships and composition in space. That's true even when the decision is made by throwing the I Ching, as Merce Cunningham has done.

2) Confucius Comes Back

He pauses to take a drink of water, jumps into the differences between Taoism and Confucianism, and then continues on to other classical Chinese concepts: the I Ching, yin and yang. The students tap away on their laptops or scribble in notebooks.The three-hour class, which began at 8 a.m., should have been over 25 minutes ago, but the students continue to ask questions, and Mr. Tang, an associate professor of philosophy, shows no sign of breaking away.

3) Center for Chinese Studies announces Spring 2007 Chung Fong and Grace Ning/Confucius Institute Fund awards
