I have no idea!

I just came accross this article and was impressed that the Chinese were able to do Polar Plotting at some very early historical pertiod.

I expect there is some bodge, but I don't know what it is...

Hi Kevin,

There is an ancient text:

天(sky) 圓(round) 地(earth) 方(square)
The sky is round;the earth is square

I think the ancient people derive the above text from the shadow of the sun by mapping its longest shadow throughout a year.

BTW, exactly why the Ruler is 8-foot (chinese measurement) is worth looking at.


My opinions:
With the appropriate height of the Ruler at the specific latitude, maybe we are able to derive an exact profile similar to that of "the Shannon's entropy vs the ancient Circle Dynamics".
