Trapped 48.2 -> 39

Hi all,
i have a really severe problem. It´s about a working contract i signed ages ago
which did prohibit to work for one of this companys clients - which i accidently recently did. I was not aware they could be connected in any way as they are in different lines of business. However this might end up in court once they notice my work.

I did already seek advice from a lawyer who told me that it is a 50/50%
case. I might win or lose. For sure it will cost a lot of money and
loosing means my financial ruin for a long, long time (paying lawyer, court etc.). :bag:
The other possibility is to contact this company trying to get them
to an out-of-court settlement. But i know they are not interested in money.
My salary is less than peanuts for them. It`s about principles.

Now i feel like the rabbit in front of the snake. If i just wait i feel constantly
under anxious pressure. If i contact them i fear to have to go to court.

I did ask the yi: what shall i do? Contact or wait and hope for the best?

Lilly, Line 2 of Hex 48, the Well, is about a well that is not producing, because of foolish "short term" behavior. Someone was shooting fish in the well, and so instead of maintaining the well as part of the community, they damaged the jug that gets the water up. I am not sure if Yi is lecturing you, or discussing the company's thinking, or lack thereof. In my personal experience, I associate this hexagram with institutional behavior. But this reading seems to be about shooting yourself in the foot for short-term gain, and ignoring the long term value of the well.

I often get H48 and H10 (Treading the Tail of the Tiger) when asking about my relations with large companies.

If Line 2 is discussing you, then you have temporarily disabled your well, your ability to get nourishment. I think Yi is just suggesting you fix it quietly or don't do it in the future.

The rest of my comment is from life experience. Companies rarely sue people whose assets are small, and don't pose a threat to them. I suggest you just quietly go about earning your living, and if trouble comes from the company, just apologize and plead ignorance, that you had no idea the other company was a client. They may try to threaten you, but it is just like a lion roaring. They will attempt to be dominant, and you will lie down and expose your belly. Don't fight them or aggravate them, just plead ignorance and ask for mercy.

That is true at least for today. I was not able to do anything at all. usually i have a feeling for how to proceed or an instinct.. but today i felt completely lost. 39 means to me to react rather than act. Would you agree?
Personally i rather like to talk to them and find a solution. Friends of mine tell me to just wait. But waiting is a pain to me... sight

I think here H39 just means that you have an obstruction. The text reads such that the direction of the advance is blocked and the direction of retreat is what is available to you. The indication is of active retreat, rather than advancing.

Sometimes, the hardest and most rewarding thing to do is nothing....just have a plan for if and when the transgression comes to light.
