I interpret 53 as being the long-term relationship hexagram, though it might take a long time to happen:

DEVELOPMENT. The maiden
Is given in marriage.
Good fortune.
Perseverance furthers.

There's also a possibility that nothing is actually gonna happen, specially because the hexagram is unchanging. However, I got 8 UC the other day and I got the help that I needed to sort out a certain issue and everything went OK.

I think if I got this line I would expect that maintaining a long distance relationship would require tenacity- persistence-sustained gentle effort over a long while but I think 53 signifies that yes it would be possible if that is what you choose.

My experience with hex 53 is gradual progress as it says - most of the hexagram is about things coming to be in a positive way, geese roosting, people getting pregnant after a delay, etc etc etc... so I think it means slowly but surely things will happen, the thing you are asking of (a relationship in this instance) but its not something in your control. Perhaps also about letting go of control somehow. Definitely there is a sense of not pushing, I think hex 54 which is that things are not in your control, is underlying it.
