I’ve been in contact with the heirs to collections that I would like to acquire. I met one personally for a few hours and have corresponded with the other a few times, both over the past 3 years. I’ve made my interest known clearly, I speak honestly and have of course been sensitive to both. One is still not ready emotionally, the other indicated they were. Of course there is a chance that despite all my best efforts they might choose to go a different direction.

Anyway, I’ve recently asked will I get to acquire these collections? The result was 37.2.3.4.6>58.

This seems encouraging. I was wondering if anyone would offer their interpretations on this?

Kind thanks,
The BonBon.

The outcome is not known at this stage, but you do have a chance if you negotiate with the right person and offer good compensation. All the changing lines of 37 that you got point to a very strong female who totally influences the result. She's a cantankerous personality, very difficult to deal with, very aggressive. She's controlling the whole scenario. You need to find out who this is, and negotiate directly with her. Then you've got a chance.

Thanks Diamanda,

I’m nearly 100% certain that in both cases I am speaking directly with the strong female sources you’ve mentioned.

Update: I have made progress in one of the two opportunities. After an email or two and a wait of a few months I have received the inventory list from the heir. I am in the process of completing a preliminary type of appraisal based on my own records. The list was well maintained and did include the prices paid by the collector. The heir indicated that she would essentially like to get out what her partner paid in. That precludes me from buying this outright as the collection was assembled over the past decade and the market hasn’t changed enough to offer that close to full retail. So I’m planing on offering to sell these on consignment.

A few readings I did:

While still waiting patiently to hear back: What can I do to acquire this collection? Hex 14 unchanging. I took it to mean be forthright and helpful. Put in some effort on educating her as to what’s there and what I can/would do.

After having received the inventory list I was a tad intimidated as there was about twice the value I had expected there. What should I do now that I have the list of inventory? Hex 55.4>36. I took this to mean, you have what you asked for, now your the master of this situation, get to work. Also, that I have been given something that no one else has and therefore am in a position to see it all.

What advice can you give me as I seek to move forward with the heir? Hex 58.1. Seemed fairly straight forward, make an offer that suits my needs but will help get her close to the best the market can give on these items.

And a touch of anxiety prompted this yes/no doozy: (my asking a yes/no is always a good indicator of slight anxiety or expectation/hope and it’s shadow, fear.). Will I be able do a good job selling the collection if I get it? Hex 14.2.3>21. The lines of which sound like affirmations of that. It could present some challenges but I do know where and how to place them.

After a good amount of evaluation I was able to reply with an offer. I also recompiled the list into a spreadsheet, made many notes and some analyses. I shared that complete file in my email. So she has that.

I asked the Yi, what is she thinking about my offer? Result hexagram 43.2.6>13.

Does anyone have an interp on that one?

Update: the first heir I was in touch with after some time. reached out again by email and her reply was short and kind of cold. I suspect she felt awkward about that because she sent a second reply that was of much more kind tone. Very shortly after I discovered that she had consigned the whole thing to an auction house except for some low quality stuff that she sold to another person (which had been already been done when I reached out to her by email.) The auction sold fairly well and I think it was the right choice. The second one just ghosted me and never replied to my offer which I put a good amount of work into and I honestly wouldn’t negotiate anything less on my end for the time it would require to sell the stuff.
