It is also the last light of the day perhaps, on top of the mountain, before the sun sinks under the earth... an awareness of modesty in the face of the full circle short before it breaks up again, a poetic rather than a scientific truth - aesthetics of the mind in its simplest form.

Look at the trigram breakdown here. Flame at the foot of the mountain. The view is blocked and people can only see what is nearby. Little things get exaggerated in importance. Fashion and fads become important. But up on top the view is different. You get more perspective. Simple linen is enough (viz Gandhi) to worry about. There are more important things to look at up here. You don't want to waste time on things that are less than authentic.

I had that urge to go and buy colors and art supplies in a period that I was trying to handle a burn out, to find ways to replenish my energy. So I went and bought, among other art supplies, watercolor pencils , took a drawing of a mandala and started testing my new pencils to see how they behave. What came out was the image you see. I asked Yi.

What made me ask was that while my mind was saying " don't put black borders" , my hands were painting black borders. ( that is something usually happens with mandalas, at least to me)

I got 22.6>36. ... No simple ( all those colors :bag:) and not something particularly beautiful or elegant. I thought, at the beginning, Yi was playing with me but then I realized what it was about.

Black thick lines (36) colors contained within (22.6)

This line seems to possess too many meanings to be helpful in a reading. Is there any way to narrow down what this line might signify in a reading? :)

Enjoyed your OP narrative. :bows:

I think this is so with all hexagrams, but especially noticeable where absolute and isolated views are inconsistent, like 22, 44 or 55.

As I see it, the one receiving the answer is who must narrow down what a line is saying. An amoral view is usually the clearest. 22.6-36 is a wonderful image to observe and ponder, between the brightest and the darkest. The light never changes, only the position of the light.

Bumping an old thread... (Got to it while searching for insights on the casting.)

Apropos color white in Chinese culture - can't forget &absolutely have to share with you how i learned about it!

Once upon a time, when i had moved to China - internet access wasn't as widely available as it is now AND my English wasn't that fluent so i could do all the researching... So, i traveled over there pretty uninformed, yet quite enthusiastic - and self confident too...
My arrival there and how i didn't end up lost or missing - despite not speaking the language are a story unto itself, BUT... once i had finally made it to my Uni-to-be and having started the classes (trust me it was bordering miraculous i had made it ;)), as it was September, hot and humid, one day i dressed all in white, assembled matching sandals and a bag and confidently headed to the classroom... (That summer white was IN in Europe and i was pretty content with my styling.) Lo and behold, as i enter the class - our teacher's eyes fill with tears as she whispers: *my Chinese name*, nide mama, baba sile? (Your mom, dad passed way?) :eek:uch:
(God forbid!)

As per the casting; i have portwine stain on my leg, which i want to get rid off; it's an aesthetic flaw ( not health-related) and upon inquiring about it's eventual removal, i got 22.6 > 36.
Now i guess 22 does say it's a cosmetic thing, but the sixth line... Could it be literal, about 'whitening' the birth mark? If you get a minute, would you mind sharing your experience and/or thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Removal of a portwine stain?
22.6 > 36

The line text is auspicious.

Hatcher 22.6
Plain white elegance
No mistake

And the presence of the Li trigram in both hexagrams suggests lasers. I don't think there will be a
total removal, but the stain could be lightened.

I think your natural color is real and pure, but you want to cover it up or make it blend in (there is a blending element in 36).

To be outside the box, you could tattoo over it, or make it part of the tatt. Just be sure to choose an artist.. ya know, it's your body, you're the one that'll have to live with it.. so be choosy, if you go that route.

Interesting. So, in China, all white means mourning. huh.. polarity

Hi pocossin!
Thank you so much for replying! Oy, i am really scared of lasers for that, i did try already and it didn't work, ended up with an open wound :( I don't know, maybe it's in the future with new generation of lasers, but honestly, i was researching info on sclerosation foam, seems they are achieving great results there! (If i'll go for it, i'll definitely remember to post a feedback!)
Thank you once again, i really appreciate that you helped me :bows:

If my body became 26 years old again, I'd feel as though I got left back. An old body NEEDS help, lol, but it is also a result of years and, hopefully, many learning experiences, plus a cache of happy and painful memories. Life is the best school.

Thank you so much for replying, dear meng!
I was thinking of a tattoo too, at the time... (Became more traditional with time, so as of now i still like tattoo on other people, but myself i wouldn't do it.)

Re. color white... OY GEVALT! :D You know, i am glad i was that uninformed, because if i knew that i'll go through all the circles of hell for first 7 months, before i started speaking - and somewhat understanding the culture and mentality... Honestly, i would have never moved there in the first place! So... you know, the foolishness of the 4th Hexagram sometimes does indeed come handy! :D
Thank you once again :bows:

But how will your ancestors find you without your distinguishing marks and features? And in your next incarnation, thy seal would also be absent. How will they recognize Gautama? Ah, by her white attire! :)

Hi Littlebudha,

What do I know? If lasers didn't work, my superficial opinion is, just live with it. Actually, I have a similar spot on my left calf. I showed it to my primary care physician, and he said "OK". If he's not worried about it, neither am I. You are not less a person by having such a spot. Actually, you may be a better person. Persons of American-Indian heritage may have such a spot on their lower back or buttocks. A late aunt, who seems to have inherited all of the Indian genes in the family, has such a spot (the Mongolian spot) although she wouldn't show it to me.

Not that I didn't ask, mind you, but aunty was modest. Hey, you may have something to be proud of. Do you have a clump in the palete of your mouth? This is is a sure sign of Indian heritage. My aunt went to a dentist is Arizona, and his first question was, What kind of Indian are you? She said, "They say we are Cherokee," and he began to laugh and said, "That's what they all say because the Cherokee were the smart ones."

Dear Pocossin,
i've heard about "Mongolian spot" from a friend who belongs to a minority from the territory of contemporary China (they are Muslim from the South) and he told me they are born with it... It's very easy to conduct a paternity test there, no? :D
I think it's also very interesting in the context of past lives, those do have meaning... maybe it would be interesting to ask Yi next time about that (i have a suspicion i was burned one of the previous times around - seriously.))
