In a very nice touristic area of the city a Café/bar performance space was up for grabs: the previous owner went bankrupt and the space was empty and waiting for us to take over.... the owner of the complex agreed to give us a period of grace of a couple of months rent and bill free. The previous owner left behind all the stuff for us to run the place and we happily started thinking and dreaming together of all the exciting things we can do...
For me several times this has been clear advice not to consider that previous work on or investment in something is a good reason to keep going on with it. It is quite a usual ingrained habit (from what we are taught) for us to think 'hmm I already did quite a lot of work on this so now I started I should keep going and expand on it or complete it'. But whilst this is generally a good attitude here it isn't best for us. We are in 25 so this is to do with disentangling from previous efforts not trying to build upon them. I think this can be quite a hard thing to do because we naturally do want to build on previous work. It could perhaps be seen as 'cutting one's losses' and then there's harvest in a fresh direction.
In one situation I had purchased things in order to set up a project but the project wasn't really getting anywhere. In hindsight I can see it was better to just write off the cost and move on elsewhere but I was a little stuck on thinking 'but I already bought all these things !!'.
In another instance having given a fair amount of time to and made some progress in an arts interest I really wanted it to 'go somewhere' or develop but it was better, in hindsight again, to forget whatever investment was made, leave it and move on.
From a slightly different angle another example is where an aggressive woman was using the dryer in my allocated wash time slot in the block of flats I live in. She was blatantly trespassing boundaries but also quite scary not friendly and amenable to requests I thought ! Her wash was already in the dryer I needed to use. I consulted and got 25.1.2.5>64 about it. I decided that just because her laundry was already in the dryer it didn't mean it had to go on being. I decided I had to 'face her down' told her to take it out and after a lengthy staring match she complied. She undid what she had begun and we could disentangle from that situation. (Trojina)
I asked if I should continue with this venture or move on and I got
