Hi,

Was just reading Wilhelm's translation of this line. I had just done a cast for a friend. I had received this reply before, and this time when I was reading the translations and the line, I saw it as a possibility for unrequited love. I had read it before in a situation for another friend as co-dependency. This is similar for the cast I just did, but it struck me that it may also be Yi's answer for unrequited love since there are no other obvious addictions in my friend's case.

I had also received this line for myself in a relationship in which the communication was one-sided.

Just interested in others' comments...

The first thing that comes to mind is 'Time heals all wounds'. Grieving lets go slowly, and only time can slacken its grip.

27.2
Six in the second place means:
Turning to the summit for nourishment,
Deviating from the path
To seek nourishment from the hill.
Continuing to do this brings misfortune

I take "summit" and "hill" to refer to the unresponsive object of affection. It is not your true path, and you should seek another. As the saying goes, There are many fish in the sea. Suckling's poem may give solace.

Why so pale and wan, fond lover?
Prithee, why so pale?
Will, when looking well can’t move her,
Looking ill prevail?
Prithee, why so pale?

Why so dull and mute, young sinner?
Prithee, why so mute?
Will, when speaking well can’t win her,
Saying nothing do’t?
Prithee, why so mute?

Quit, quit for shame! This will not move;
This cannot take her.
If of herself she will not love,
Nothing can make her:
The devil take her.

Thanks, pcossin!

I will pass along the poem to her. I feel that the line refers to seeking something that one is not finding. I guess also this could refer to illusions or disillusionment. I always saw it before as codependency or additions. This gives new insight.

Thanks!
