Hey all,
A quick little reading I did. I’m currently unemployed with the pandemic & I’ve been thinking about selling my phone for a cheaper model. My bills are thankfully at a minimum since I’m not leaving the house but I do have a few bills coming in soon. So I’m asking myself if I can justify having the expensive brand new phone I bought months before I realized all this would be happening. I have my old phone sitting in a drawer, and it would meet my needs just as well. Especially when that money would be a nice bit of padding that would save me from cutting into the savings I have been setting aside to prepare for a move? But on the other hand, is it worth it to go through the trouble of selling a phone? The extra money would be nice, but I would definitely be downgrading. And with the nature of selling used, who knows if I will actually get the amount of money I’m expecting.
I try to go with my initial gut feeling on these types of things but the weird blur of quarantine days has washed over me and I forgot what that initial gut feeling even was. So I asked the I Ching if it would be wise for me to sell my phone, and got 33 with lines 4 and 6 changing to 39.
33 I see as very resonant to my current situation: I am in retreat, I am considering only small matters. I’ve recognized now is a time to fall back. As I’m sure many people are currently doing. Line 4 suggests to me that there is opportunity for a “well executed retreat”, as well as opportunity for misfortune if I am not wise or allow petty desires to guide this time of retreat. Line 6 I don’t fully understand. Though a leisurely retreat makes sense because this isn’t a life or death deal here.
Changing to 39 confuses me, though, and I’d appreciate insight. This seems to be warning of potential danger if I am not steadfast. To me, steadfastness implies something like stealing yourself to brave a storm. At 33 I thought I was being encouraged to continue with the downsizing (taking action to facilitate retreat). But with 39 I’m sensing something like, now is not the time to take action. Now I should be still until the storm passes, and then I can take action.
So that’s where I’m at. Any input is greatly appreciated!
