33 deals in general with enticement - as does its pair-member 31. 33 is more differentiating and there is a sense of trickary involved.

hexagram 28 can be interpreted as a force that is distorting the passage through 33 in that things are being over-exaggerated, one or another/others is/are going too far in the method of enticing. ;-)

You aint got it so bad. 33 is a temporary escape, but line 2 (moving to 44-coming to meet) "holds him fast" so "no one can tear him loose", and line 6 (moving to 31-courtship/influence) shows a "cheerful" and "furthering" retreat. In line 2 of 28 there's a new sprout being born from the old trunk, and in line 6 you gotta do what you gotta do, so you figure it out, but I'd say you aint seen the last of this relationship

33.2 Be Strong, but Accept Help.

If you remain strong and determined to hold to your high principles, and if you accept help and advice, perhaps from the Yi, there is no danger.

33.6 The Time Has Come - No Regrets.

You have become independent of the outcome of the situation. You are ready to depart cheerfully without doubts. By practising non-attachment, your actions are not ego-based, and you will do the right thing without thinking about it.

28. The trigrams are water over wood, which suggests a flood where the excess waters (the doubts and pressures)have risen to engulf the tree. It suggests the correct behaviour in such circumstances. If you remain strong and upright, the waters will recede, and the tree will still be a tree.

Anonymous - hi. If you leave the so-called 'resulting' hexagrams out of the picture, it's a lot easier to read - forget Hex 28.

What you're dealing with is two lines in Hex 33. Line 2 talks about a strong attachment or connection that can't be broken, and Line 6 talks about a completely advantageous withdrawal from the situation.

The oracle's reflecting your position and attitude in this issue: it's an inner conflict situation - you're feeling a strong connection that you can't let go of, but withdrawing is in fact completely to your advantage. Your feelings are holding you back, but your fate lies in another direction.
