43.4.5 > 11 : opinion about X

Hello to all,

Maybe you can help me understand this answer.
I met a guy a few days ago. I like him. But I am confused, so I asked IC:

What's your opinion about X?
The answer: 43.4.5 > 11 .

Some insights, please? It would be very useful.

Thanks.

Sure, I've got an insight, but it isn't about the Yi's response to your question, it's about you. You say you're confused. What are you confused about? What's YOUR opinion of the guy you want an objective opinion about?

Thank you for the reply, dobro.

As I said, I like the guy.
I am confused because I like him, therefore I am not objective.
I mean... Am I right to like him? :)

Ah okay, you know that because you like him, your judgement is a bit skewed, so you're looking for an objective view - good.

I mean... Am I right to like him? :)

Well, that's a whole other question. My experience is that attraction has more to do with chemistry of personal types than it does with questions of what's right. I don't know if you can find out if he's right for you, but it should be clear just by taking a quick scan of your reactions and feelings whether he's wrong for you. If he's wrong for you, head for the exits if you have the power to ignore the attraction that's at work. But if you don't sense he's wrong for you, then that means you're in the same situation as people-who-find-themselves-attracted-to-a-certain-someone the world over: do you want to take a chance and find out?

What's your opinion about X?

The answer: 43.4.5 > 11 .

For some reason, the Yi's talking about decisively separating from something and going your own way - you don't challenge the something in question, you just announce your separation from it and then go your own way. 11 says the outcome of this separation is an instance of that 'heaven-on-earth' vibe that we all yearn for and get blessed by sometimes. So either the Yi's saying that HE is separating himself from you and finding peace of mind in that, or it's saying that YOU would do well to separate yourself from him and go your own way. I'm sorry, but that's the most obvious interpretation I can see based on what you've provided.

Well, that's a whole other question.

Of course. It was just a way to explain my question.
The idea is: I met a guy, things are very clear from a "sentimental"/"chemical" point of view: I like him. From a rational point of view, I am confused (something like "ok, I like him, but I practically don't know anything about him" etc etc). I was thinking too much about him, so I said "ok, stop now, it's time to detach and try to view things from another point of view". But I cannot have another point of view :) . So, I asked I Ching an opinion about the guy.

do you want to take a chance and find out?

sure I do want to

thank you. we'll see what happens. who knows, maybe there won't be any separation because maybe nothing will really happen. maybe it will remain just an attraction that lasted for a few days. :)

Ah, so THAT is the separation. NOW I understand. You were separating yourself from your feelings while you were looking for a second opinion.

But I cannot have another point of view :) .

Sure you can. You just proved it. lol

Simona,

43.4 is the line which I feels refer to someone who is too far gone to be told not to go. If there is a warning, you are inclined to not really being open to hearing it. If you could follow the words of wisdom , you'd be safe.
This line is a little confusing to me, but I sort of think of it like "Fools rush in where wise men never go", but, as the song says, wise men don't fall in love, so how are they to know?
Maybe it is good to be a fool where love is concerned. Safety is not always the best option.
43.5 says , keep to the middle ground. IOW, if you are going enter the realm, try to keep your balance. 11. good fortune.
