Q. What do I need to do to earn the amount of money I'd like to have?

Hi there,

For many years I've tried to boost my income to not only pay for my dependents but to also be able to save and / or spend on self care.

I went from childhood, straight into single parenthood - and as many would know, this way of life is not the easiest, but it is what it is and I've tried to make the most of it.

The answer I received, seems to suggest that I become a waitress? I've done this in the past and did not earn that much.

I have 2 contract/casual jobs that pay well -ish...but when I asked this question I had a 2K minimum wage per week in mind as only then would I feel that I have enough to cover our immediate bills, and then to pay for things I feel would improve our quality of life.

(I've earned this amount in the past, govt role).

Childcare has been an issue this year, so I'm trying to earn/save for boarding school.

Any other ideas what 5.5 to 11 could mean as a way to earn higher income?

Prior to this cast I asked "Is there anything I can do to earn a higher income?

The answer I received was 11 - sounds like I'm being told to be happy with what I already have and not want more...which is easy enough to be told, and agree to but not as easy to follow through on or believe as the right thing for myself, when I feel like I've been told enough times to work hard, be grateful etc.

Truth be told, the best times are when I'm with my children, not working or stressing out about paying bills. We have food, drink, shelter, clothes and enough money to cover these things. I had contemplated doing some low paid work next week, but that would have meant getting someone else to watch my kids as it's school holidays - but I'm actually just hoping to get more work hours at my current job which pays very well. My kids will be spending time away from home as of next weekend with extended family.

My take before reading your own interpretation was: Wait (5); enjoy the actual situation and nourish yourself (5.5) until a worthwhile opportunity shows up: "Cleary: The small goes, the great comes. This is auspicious and developmental" (11). I hadn't thought of careers related to food and drink.
Receiving hexagram 11 twice confirms it; you'll earn more when the time is right: "Legge: The wise ruler models his laws upon the principles of heaven and earth."
I understand your concerns, but according to the I Ching, changing jobs doesn't seem to help for the moment.

I am following the advice to wait for a better opportunity, which is against my nature as I like to work for and go for what I want by almost any means possible (every legal way).

I do have a high paying job, and I have been training for work that will lead to enjoyable self employment in 2020.

Both my current roles are dear to my heart, whereas the work I was considering doing temporarily was not...
