I simply asked to be shown the correct way to introduce myself to a teacher involved with a certain line of study that I have an interest in. After reading the response I realized that I may still be questioning myself on whether to pursue this or not. I believe that the reading reflects the latter rather than the former. Any insight would be most welcomed. Thanks

Hi MKJ10000, you asked how to introduce yourself, and got 53 - a reading which proposes steady success. It will all be all right if you follow the conventional ways. Going step by step, and you will succeed. Only that the related hexagram is 28, which also tells a story of being aftaid to be over-burdened with lots of things to study or to do … but if you ask if you should really pursue this way, I think this really is another question.

Change pattern is 64, crossing the great river. I would find a certain encouragment in this.

Thanks for the insight. The thought of "should I pursue this?" occurred to me as I was reading the response to my first question. I will need to answer that before moving forward.

I agree with Mandarin here. One name for Hex. 53 is 'gradual progress' which I think denotes taking a slow, non-agressive approach to introducing yourself and getting to know this teacher. The commonality of the lines is 'the wild geese advance by degrees' (e.g. not all at once!). 28 also points to not making too big a deal of meeting this person - they are, after all, of the same species (I hope!) - so don't let thoughts of them fill you to the breaking point!

Best, D.
