What a lovely thread...and a fitting end...thus far.
Bradford and peter's remarks...made me remember this futile conversation I once had, replete with 'inner truth' so to speak, and seeing as such, its perfect subjectivity...where a companion went on and on about 'absolute truth' and so very angrily...as I tried to reason with him. I think this is where people become dictators and cult leaders...
The height of personal truth recognises it is a very subjective but completely integrative experience. If the person arguing for this one 'objective' truth had infact experienced it, (as you say rightly, peter) he would not be arguing with me. As I kept pointing out, this idea that I was sharing, my truth in reality, *allows* for his..this *his* truth is the belief of an absolute 'objective' truth...he just got very very angry, and worse, was not aware that he was actually being insulting...in his complete denial of my 'truth'.
Ultimate objectivity can not be in conflict with pure subjectivity. Pure subjectivity rests in respect of other subjectivity, otherwise it is not 'pure'...
That conversation plays and replays in my mind sometimes...wondering how i could have found a way into his relative (un)truth masquerading as Absolute truth...Except recognising it just as a belief system, and letting his phony fervent hypocrisy slide, instead of taking it in face value (as being also truthful in the same way as I was)...
I think the worst kind of danger is this...as bradford aptly warns...with the new age movement...with people setting up shop with their partiality passing for absolute...
I just got 61.3.5.6 to 11...two of my favourite hexagrams in 1...but i find that 61 seems so much easier than 11, these days...i think it is a good transition back and forth...could 11 be the non-self way of being in the world? and 61 the Self as self, personal integrity/authority over one self without imposing it on others way of Being....human....?
