Hello,

I have a question regarding 62.3.

I threw 62.3.5 to 45 when I asked if I should go to a birthday party. The party is for my cousin, and a lot of family members are going. I have a very very large extended family and I've not really seen this side for some time, and I wasn't directly invited to the party although another of my family members said they are sure I would be welcome and that I should come (obviously by calling the host first etc). The party is at a town two hours away and it would involve a whole day, petrol money (I'm on quite a tight budget as a student), but I thought it would be nice to see a lot of family members in one place that I haven't seen in some time. Alternatively I think it is a lot of trouble, family can be hard work and strange, and wasn't really invited anyway.

62.3

‘Not going past, he defends himself.
Someone following may strike him down. Pitfall.’

62.5

‘Dense clouds without rain
Come from our Western altars.
The prince hunts with tethered arrows,
And gets the one living in a cave.’

So... I'm a little confused about 62.3. Would that mean if I go to the party all will be well because no one is "sneaking up behind me" (which I imagine in this case would be gossip). OR would you say going would be a mistake.

Willheim's translation of 62.3 is

Nine in the third place means:
If one is not extremely careful,
Somebody may come up from behind and strike him.
Misfortune.

At certain times extraordinary caution is absolutely necessary. But it is just in
such life situations that we find upright and strong personalities who,
conscious of being in the right, disdain to hold themselves on guard, because
they consider it petty. Instead, they go their way proud and unconcerned. But
this self-confidence deludes them. There are dangers lurking for which they
are unprepared. Yet such danger is not unavoidable; one can escape it if he
understands that the time demands that he pay especial attention to small
and insignificant thing.

Any help would be appreciated

sounds like a compulsory attendance to me - You might not like to attend, but you have to.
