Awhile ago I posted on receiving 63 when modifying a guitar. The modification was a bit beyond my practical ability, and so bringing the project to someone accomplished (completed skills - 63) completed the job. I'm unable to locate my earlier comments on this, as it was deleted as an independent thread and homogenized into some other general discussion, so I'll open a new thread, since I'm unable to find the other one.

Well the 63 interpretation has played itself out yet again, when the house I live in was invaded and infested by carpenter ants. I'm talking hundreds of thousands of ants measuring to 1/2", and a substantial number of them making their way inside the house. Asking the Yi for the best course of action to take, I received 63.3,5-24. The answer stumped me, until I remembered my guitar mod reading. I'll be calling a professional pest control company tomorrow (Monday). And if presented with a complicated or simpler method of control by the company, I'll choose the simpler and less expensive method, based on line 5. Hopefully it will send these tenacious ants returning to where they came from. Meanwhile I've been employing simple methods to control them, i.e. spraying ant killer and traps. But I know it will take someone accomplished to complete the job.

I should add, if anyone sees an interpretation I might have missed, I'd appreciate hearing it. After so long and so many times around on the 64 wooden horsies, this has struck me as a mystery, other than the meaning I've come up with and expressed.

I was thinking about that reading. Whilhelm talks about colonies and combining it with 24, do you think that it might say, you or the company to go and find ant's colony , where they nest and fight them there ?

Could you point to where Wilhelm mentions colonies for 63? It's an interesting thought, but I've never associated the word or idea with 63 before.

Line 3 :“The Illustrious Ancestor
Disciplines the Devil's Country.”

and the comments. under that line.

When I read “the Devil’s country it came to my mind the ants nest and their expansion to your home looked like wanted to built a new colony….

My thought was not actually based on the comments just the result of a free association

Actually your observation was well grounded, from W/B commentary on 63:

"Illustrious Ancestor" is the dynastic title of the Emperor Wu Ting of the Yin dynasty. After putting his realm in order with a strong hand, he waged long colonial wars for the subjection of the Huns who occupied the northern borderland with constant threat of incursions.
The situation described is as follows. After times of completion, when a new power has arisen and everything within the country has been set in order, a period of colonial expansion almost inevitably follows. Then as a rule long-drawn-out struggles must be reckoned with. For this reason, a correct colonial policy is especially important."

Very interesting, and I could see how these can apply on a couple of different fronts. Very good observation, Maria. Thanks.

This is an ominous thing, hex 7 ants. incredibly tough warriors on one front, who die off by the hundreds of thousands with little no intervention on my part. My general arrives at 10 to access the situation.

If it's any consolation, I share a home with members of that pesky army too. But thankfully, they seem to retreat strategically when I put out traps. Every now and then a renegade does a lonely march across the tiles in the kitchen or bathroom. I don't have the heart to step on them, they are so freakin big! So I pick the soldier up in a tissue and put him out in the grass. Sometimes I have seen one or two (outside) carting corpses.
63.3 gives me the creeps, kinda. 24 says its another season, and thats the reason. the ants are makin whoopie:rofl:
