One Hundred Bottles of Beer.

One hundred bottles of beer on the wall,
One hundred bottles of beer!
Take one down
Pass it around,
Ninety-nine bottles of beer!

Ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall..

Nice protest song from Jackson Browne: Lives in the Balance (live)

GREAT video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFowNFvmUxw

Ive been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear
You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that youve seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

And theres a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs

On the radio talk shows and the t.v.
You hear one thing again and again
How the u.s.a. stands for freedom
And we come to the aid of a friend
But who are the ones that we call our friends--
These governments killing their own?
Or the people who finally cant take any more
And they pick up a gun or a brick or a stone
There are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

Theres a shadow on the faces
Of the men who fan the flames
Of the wars that are fought in places
Where we cant even say the names

They sell us the president the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us every thing from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars
I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But theyre never the ones to fight or to die
And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

Amazing ! If I'm not mistaken this song has the words from 24 - must have been written for 24. Never heard it before. Would someone give Mesmer a prize which is of course er....

The words are a Syd Barrett's collage of excerpts from the sentence, the image and the comment of hexagram 24 from Wilhelm's edition.
The song is from Pink Floyd's first album, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn", where a poet was still bright...

Wondering why 16 has made no apppearance yet ? Maybe its all 16 as Wilhelm says

Thunder comes resounding out of the earth:
The image of enthusiasm
Thus the ancient kings made music
In order to honour merit,
And offered it with splendour
To the Supreme Deity,
Inviting their ancestors to be present.

....So too, music has power to ease tension within the heart and to loosen the grip of obscure emotions. The enthusiasm of the heart expresses itself involuntarily in a burst of song, in dance and rhythmic movement of the body. From immemorial times the inspiring effect of invisible sound that moves all hearts, and draws them together, has mystified mankind.
