Yes indeed. You cannot rush headlong into or force things that move you towards trusting yourself again.Trust evolves naturally, as mistrust fades. Seems like your time on the road has allowed at least a partial decomposition of your dysfunctional support systems. Trusting yourself enough to be stable enough to engage with counselling intervention is a massive breakthrough and a real sign of progress.Thanks my_key - so true. I'm getting there. A lot of the way I'm getting to a better mental stability is to let go of so many relationships that I used to rely on to hold me steady (unconsciously and dysfunctionally).
Also weirdly, the longer I'm 'on the road' the more confident and stable in myself I become, although it may not seem it because I'm seeking counselling intervention.
I guess now I've come to terms with what you said - recovery is slow, steady and takes a long time.
