Hello I'm looking for help to interpret Line 4 of Hexagram 42. My question was 'given the apparent sign in the card reading today, should I sell the farm property now and move'. Hex 42 seems like an affirmative answer but I would like greater clarity of the changing line. I think Line 4 is saying that if I follow Spirit (walking in the middle) good fortune follows and that selling my property or my willingness to sell this property will put me in the position for something better. Is there a better or more correct interpretation?:)

Hello,

I believe the response is indeed affirmative and your interpretation is accurate. The line suggests a shift (could be in mindset followed by action), in that circumstances thereafter would be more favourable. That's my take on it.

'The center moving. Notifying the prince, adhering. Harvesting, availing of activating depends
on shifting the city. Comments: Notifying the prince, adhering. Using augmenting's purpose'.
Hopefully others will provide their interpretation.

If you walk in the middle I take to mean that there should be a balance of spiritual and material interests -- your health and future welfare (lost of income from the farm and cost of new housing), tax liabilities, obligation to family and neighbors, and a good knowledge of the place where you may relocate.

Depends on details (inner and outer), of course, but in such a business transaction as yours, I'd interpret line 4 as being realistic about what the market will bear, being willing to negotiate on details. Also, considering its link to 25, I'd note elements of try not focusing on the end result, but more so on ethics, integrity - and not neglecting the same from those you choose to bargain with. Some people are worth trusting and making concessions to, and some are not. Walking in the middle helps to distinguish them, in context with the bigger picture.

This just reminded me of a certain rugged road, which I've dubbed 'the middle way', primarilyy because it is a more moderate walk. My choices are to turn around and backtrack, take the middle road, or do the full-meal-deal - take the long way around.

The middle way has another interesting feature. On the right side are two peaceful humble dwellings (that's where the Kuan Yin tree grows). On the other side is a menacing looking electrified chain fence, with "BAD DOG" and "Do Not Enter" signs. That they leave their gate wide open gives it even more of a malevolent feeling. Such a big contrast, only steps apart.

Walking in the middle gives freedom to pass through without trespassing upon either.
