Head in the sky, strange answers?

Hi everyone,

It has been some time I posted here, but try to follow everything here.

As some may know I have a Dutch service on my website where people that use the I Ching can post their reading if they have trouble understanding it.

A woman has consulted me with a question and I Ching reading. The question describes her not eating, getting sick and not taking care of her own welbeing. The answer she got was hex 26, sixth line. Now this is a very positive answer. But I couldn't connect it to her question.

I replied to her that I couldn't connect the answer to her question. Now she replied that she has this the last year everytime she consults the I Ching. I suspected that she is someone with her head in the clouds, very spiritual with no earth. I told her this and she confirmed this and that a lot of people have mentioned this to her.

Now if someone can help me interpret her question and the I answer I'd appreciate that.

But I would also want to know if it's possible that someone can be so much in the heaven that it becomes difficult to get a good answer or to make a good interpretation?

I am very curious on your points of view.

Her question is:

I neglect my inner and outer selfcare, how come?

In the comments she wrote to me because she feels something is holding her back from caring for herself and that she got sick and collapsed because she barely eats something.

Hi Richard, it seems really clear to me what the I Ching is saying here. She is the source of her own nourishment, the matter is entirely in her own control, therefore it is not really a problem as far as Yi sees it (or even as I see it). All she has to do is take care of herself. Sounds like she wants someone to do it for her, but Yi is saying "No, YOU are the source of your own nourishment".
The only reason I can see for her behaviour is that by collapsing she is indicating she needs taking care of by others. There is no reason she can't adequately feed herself - and the Yi is telling her this !! If she wants to feel the love and care of others there are more effective ways of going about it than not eating and collapsing !!

Hello Gahan and Louise,

I don't interpret 26 as head in the clouds. Especially given the nine at the top changing to 11. It appears this is a special time for this person, spiritually. Whether due to the time, her actions or even perhaps the fasting, this individual is at an impasse of some kind of enlightening experience.

What a fool i am !! Sorry Richard I was looking at the wrong hexagram !! I was looking at 27 not 26 - apologies, blushes etc You can now of course completely disregard my response.

Hi Louise and Candid,

Don't worry about it Louise, it happens to me also.

Candid, I beginning to believe that this woman is indeed on a virge of a spiritual breakthrough. I've talked with her by e-mail and she has a very sensitive spiritual appearance to me.

Cheers,

Gahan

Gahan,

Just before being in a good place where I am now, I became very ill. I lost so much weight I was actually fearing for my life. It lasted several weeks and as alarmed as I was over looking more and more like Gandhi, the Ching pointed to big changes coming which would affect my life in positive ways. On one hand, I felt hurt that Yi could be so insensitive to my failing health. (anyone else ever feel that?) On the other hand, I was experiencing rapid spiritual growth. Intuitively, I feel that your friend is going through a very similar experience.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Candid,

I sure feel a little strange myself sometimes when to my view the Yi doesn't even acknowledge where I am (feeling bad). But that reminds me not to focus on feeling bad... because then it get's bigger (have to say this is just a beginning understanding), and go ahead on the right path (is this vague or what? *grin*).

In the beginning of this year I had a somewhat likewise experience like you Candid. I was running to fast in my life (done that always), so I broke my foot in february in a strange accident. I did an inner dialog with my foot and it said to me 'you are running to fast'. Now I'm beginning to stand still a bit more and even meditate sometimes (restless me meditating... yeah wouldn't be possible two years ago). This year has (still) been a year of big changes for me: discovered my patterns, why thinks won't work out in my life, that I'm holding myself in a cage and am freeing myself, that I'm not only introvert but every extravert and it want's to come out! And that I haven't earthened enough and I'm still trying to land in my body.

Cheers,

Gahan

Gahan,

Discovering ones patterns is a discovery indeed. Perhaps of all the help Yi offers, that is the single most useful. No one is exempt from every changing line. Eventually and cyclically, all move through the changes and patterns of life, over and over again. Moving farther away provides a clearer and more comprehensive view, but in that process we lose touch with the earthly experience. So once again we are drawn back into the wheel of cause and effect. Then again, we seek escape from it through inner development and resources. Then, we're edified and built up, so we can head back into the world to contribute what we have gathered.

In my opinion, that's life in a nutshell.

Namaste,
Candid
