Consulted Yi about how to behave at a job interview I have tomorrow morning. (I really need a job!) and got Hex 22.3 > 27.

Now The way I translate Hex 22 in this case is that I need to dress to impress at the interview. The first impression of me will be critical. However, Hex 27 leaves me confused. Does it mean that I should hold back during the interview in order to get the best result?

With 22.3 you shouldn't need to make much effort to either charm or be charmed. But 22.3 can be a warning about getting carried away with the pleasantness of things so it could even be that later on you need to check out what they are really offering you....and what you are really offering them. You see 22.3 can cast quite a glamorous sheen over things. Very nice but later you might want to see what it looks like on a duller day. Why would you want to keep your wits about you rather than get drunk on the situation ? to figure if it can really nourish you (27) 27 often indicates our means of earning.

22 and 22.3 often connect with alcohol literally...something that takes the sharp edges off and makes the world seem good ...but also can make us rather effusive and possibly go a bit OTT

At face value it could be taken that you effortlessly charm these people....the only slight danger being you get carried away a bit.

But I don't see you dancing on the table or anything

Overall it would seem a reassuring answer that it won't be a gruelling interview at least. You could even enjoy it


Over in RC the private forum, we have a kind of 22.3 private club because a number of us constantly cast 22.3...(.well he knows who he is) and are still trying to apply it to various situations so your feedback will be appreciated by the 22.3 club I'm sure. It is rather an elusive line to grasp IMO

I think the opposite -- that you should be forthcoming and reveal your abilities fully. Nurture the interviewer, that is.

Some take a broad view of 22 as being life force showing, blossoming, glowing, more than the often heard superficiality aspect.

I've come to personally associate line 3 with melancholy, or a way to try to cover up melancholy. Maybe that ties in with Bradford's *drippy* description of it. I am at my least graceful because I am trying to be graceful, I suppose as a drunk might walk for a sobriety test, or satisfy myself and maybe others with what doesn't really satisfy. Anyway, I think Yi says to avoid that. (no perfume either)

I see 27 as providing one another with what the other needs, without excessive extraneous chatter. Remember to give your benefits (of your skills and features) to the company, as well as ask for information of the company and position. The objective of the hire is mutual nourishment.

I don't advise tying it up too tightly to a given system. There are different ways to view the changing/relating hexagram. Let it speak to you. You have the method right (22.3 changes to 27), just let your mind follow along that road. Don't grip the bat or club or pen too tightly...

Just want to let you guys know about how the interview went.

It was a very easy interview. They seemed to be very taken with me right from the get go. Everything I said seemed to be very agreeable.

Now this company has just been through merger and aquisition and there is a lot of chaos and anxiety there. They told me that they are looking for a person who can come in and change the culture there to something higher. I guess that is what hex 27 means, nourishment.

Absolutely. The hex is really true. It is not what I really want to do and the job won't really bring satisfaction. However, I need a stable job and I need to make money.

this is a hexagram where you might have to find a way to content yourself with the little simple things . . and this line for me sometimes feels like trying to patch up a much bigger problem that's out of reach. You start small and work your way from there . .
