There's a job I'm thinking to apply for but I'm worried about one of the managers who is in charge of two branches. She used to be a human resource manager at my current place of employment and was very cruel towards me. I don't know if she still works at the place I'm thinking to apply to.

I feel that line 1 means that my previous experience means that my wariness is exercising good judgement and that line 3 means I'm not missing anything by not applying.

You're right, for some reason I thought it only described the intent of the question.

My thoughts on hexagram 19, it feels like the i ching is saying this would be fruitful but with the warning against early harvesting, then it suggests that perhaps I'm not ready for the job I want to apply for.

It's best to write the relating hexagram in like this 19.1.3>46. Often when people don't write in the relating hexagram they get fewer replies since people have to then figure it out themselves.

It shouldn't be too hard to find out if she is still there should it? You could just ring and ask to speak to her no one will know it's you. If they say 'yes just putting you through' then you know she is still there. Also don't many large companies have their management listed on their website? I'm not sure. Yi aside that seems something to do first.

You haven't said what the exact question was I guess it was just generally whether you should apply or not.

The lines seem at odds with line 1 suggesting to go forth is favourable and line 3 saying it's not really going to go anywhere. It feels to reflect your situation, it's an uncertain cast. Just looking at the lower trigram we see Tui change to Kan, that is open expression changing to depths/pits/emotions.

Together the hexagrams make the sentence Approach's Pushing Upward, you're ready to get ahead to go beyond your current position but maybe this isn't quite the right opening.

But before giving up on the application just find out if she is still there since if she isn't there's no reason not to apply.

Thanks Trojina, I'll remember for next time. My original question was "What kind of influence would this woman have if I got the job?".

I did a quick internet search just now and sure enough I discover she's the human resource manager for that company.

Also, I like how you describe me ready to go ahead and push upwards because I'm looking into social care which would be better paid than my current job and would give me greater work satisfaction but yes, considering that the woman is still there this might not be the right job for me but at least Yi says I'm ready for something better than my current job.
