Hexagram 22 - multiple times

Hi all,

A little bit of background: I've been dating a woman over the winter and got fairly emotionally attached to her. In February, however, she made it clear that she doesn't envision us moving on in a romantic direction - despite the fact that we enjoy each others' company immensely. I fully respect her decision, but I've found it very difficult to move on emotionally.

On three occasions since February I've turned to Yi with the question wether I should just stop seeing her altogether and start dating other women (the obvious thing to do), and on each occasion I've received Hexagram 22 Grace:

Reading 1: Hexagram 22.1.4.6 changing to hexagram 62
Reading 2: Hexagram 22 unchanging
Reading 3: Hexagram 22.2.5 changing to hexagram 9

I do find it rather tricky to interpret the core message of these readings. One interpretation I kind of gravitate towards is that Yi's telling me that the question itself is a very superficial, shallow representation of the reality of the situation, but i do not know.

Any input would bre greatly appreciated!

Think of 22 as meaning Adornment, as in..
After obstacles have been 21.Bitten Through allowing things to be brought together they will just be things clumped together unless we add a little artistic fluff…
So 22 can mean adding beauty and grace but it also indicates illusion and wishful thinking, like you know you’re just friends but you’ve decorated it and created a fantasy you’re hoping will become a reality..

The resulting hexagrams don’t seem to comment on your finding someone new, at least not until you complete step one - ending the first relationship.
Attention to Detail may be echoing your finding it difficult to move on emotionally, a significant detail not to be overlooked as you consider dating other women.
also re-enforces the idea you’re still in LaLaLand.
22 changing to 9, a man on his own, could be counseling you to walk away from this fantasy and chill for a bit before looking for a new love.

Personally, I think that is not the case. H22 is the hexagram of the difference between inner and outer. Trigram Fire inside and Mountain outside. In your description, you say "...and got fairly emotionally attached to her". That is trigram Fire, attached. ( fire depends on its fuel, it is literally and figuratively attached).
"I fully respect her decision, but I've found it very difficult to move on emotionally". This is trigram Mountain. Setting and respecting boundaries, but also no movement.
So as I see it, H22 shows perfectly how you are currently in the situation. Emotionally you are still involved with this woman, but on the outside it seems over because you respect her decision. Hopefully this will help you.

That is a really interesting perspective, and potentially helpful interpretation.

I think it does.
Of course, I don't know the questions you have asked, but the first combination of hexagrams (H22 and H62) in particular seems to indicate this.
Looking at the trigrams of H62, the lower trigram Mountain is associated with the end of Winter and the upper trigram Thunder with the beginning of Spring. So this shows a period where in the soil all kinds of things are in preperation (seeds starting to germinate) but nothing is visible above ground yet. To me, this indicates working on your inner state of being and preparing for something new.
The upper trigram Thunder is, among other things, about renewal and new beginnings, but a new beginning requires "inner stability" (trigram Mountain).
As I see it, the moving lines in H22 give you a guideline on how to approach this process.
